The World’s Strongest Witch anime reveals new cast, staff and theme songs
The fantasy anime about a girl with an online strategy guide premieres in Japan on 7 October 2026.
The World’s Strongest Witch: I’m Starting My Free Life in a World Where Only I Can See the Online Strategy Guide has revealed a new promotional video, additional cast and staff, and both of its theme songs.
The fantasy anime premieres in Japan on 7 October 2026, with broadcasts on Tokyo MX, BS11 and TV Aichi. MBS begins airing the series on 10 October.
An SSS-Rank skill that looks useless
The story follows Rona Hermit, a girl whose supposedly worthless SSS-Rank ability gets her branded an embarrassment and kicked out by her family.
Rona soon discovers that her skill gives her access to an online strategy guide. With that cheat-level knowledge, she can gather valuable items, acquire rare equipment and navigate a fantasy world that suddenly looks much easier to exploit.
The catch is that Rona wants a free and peaceful life, which is rarely compatible with being the strongest witch in the world. Her attempt to avoid trouble is therefore likely to go about as well as every other fantasy protagonist’s retirement plan.
New cast and music
Yūto Uemura joins the cast as Reinhardt Highwind, the town’s gatekeeper. Previously announced cast members include Azusa Tachibana as Rona, Fairouz Ai as Erimina, Honoka Inoue as Eruna, Kana Hanazawa as Aries Tear Bluemoon and Maria Naganawa as Ruru Ru Rie.
The new staff members include art director Asuka Komiyama, colour key artist Megumi Aoi, director of photography Toshiyuki Sadamatsu and editor Kumiko Sakamoto.
Arisa Okehazama, known for her work on The Apothecary Diaries and Jujutsu Kaisen, is composing the music with Ryoshi Takagi. HoneyWorks featuring HaKoniwalily perform the opening theme, Eikyōryoku∞Idol, while Rokudenashi perform the ending theme, Hoshi o Muguru.
From light novel to anime
The anime adapts Mochimaru Sakaki’s light novel series, which began online in 2022 before receiving print editions illustrated by riritto. Tamaki Toga’s manga adaptation launched in 2023 and has been collected by Kodansha.
Bridge and Aisle are producing the animation. Jōji Furuta directs, Shoji Yonemura handles series composition and Yūki Morimoto designs the characters.
Our opinion
The online-strategy-guide gimmick gives this fantasy series a more playful angle than the usual “secretly powerful hero discovers they are powerful” setup. Rona already knows the world has rules; the fun should come from watching her exploit them while trying not to become responsible for everyone else’s problems.
The cast and music announcements also point towards a bright, energetic production rather than a grim power fantasy. That is the right instinct for a protagonist whose biggest ambition is apparently to be left alone.
The danger is that the internet skill becomes a shortcut for every problem. If the anime lets Rona’s knowledge create complications as often as it solves them, The World’s Strongest Witch could turn a familiar isekai premise into something genuinely funny.
