Cowboy Bebop BEAMS collection launches for film anniversary

BEAMS MANGART’s new Cowboy Bebop collection launches on 30 October with clothing, accessories and artwork tied to the film’s 25th anniversary.

BEAMS MANGART Cowboy Bebop collaboration artwork featuring the series logo and a collage of characters

BEAMS is marking the 25th anniversary of the film Cowboy Bebop: The Movie with a new BEAMS MANGART collection built around the anime’s hard-boiled visual identity. The collaboration goes on sale on 30 October, with items available through BEAMS Culture Art Takanawa and the official BEAMS online shop.12

The collection is tied to the 4K remaster release of Cowboy Bebop: The Movie and uses collages by art director Tetsuya Nagato. BEAMS says the artwork combines memorable scenes, characters and motifs from the series into new designs intended to work both for existing fans and for people encountering the property for the first time.12

What is in the collection

The line-up includes two short-sleeve T-shirts priced at ¥7,700 each, a long-sleeve T-shirt at ¥9,900, two hoodies at ¥16,500 each, a bandana at ¥5,500, a throw blanket at ¥16,500 and a skateboard deck at ¥22,000. Sizes and colours vary by item, with the clothing generally offered in M, L and XL.1

The skateboard deck will be made to order through the Takanawa shop and BEAMS’ online store. The wider collection is scheduled to be available from 30 October to 10 November, although the official announcement notes that the deck follows the made-to-order arrangement.1

Why Cowboy Bebop fits the project

The designs lean into the visual language that has made Cowboy Bebop (カウボーイビバップ) unusually easy to translate into fashion: sharp character silhouettes, smoky monochrome scenes, bold colour blocks and a collage-friendly cast. The campaign artwork centres the series logo and a dense spread of characters rather than reducing the collaboration to a single hero portrait, which gives the range a broader sense of the Bebop crew’s world.

BEAMS’ announcement describes MANGART as a project that develops products and branding around manga, anime and games. That makes this a proper first-party collaboration announcement rather than a retailer quietly listing unrelated merchandise. The company has also published the individual product images and prices on its official news page, giving fans a clear idea of what will be available before launch.1

Our opinion

This is a more convincing Cowboy Bebop collaboration than a logo slapped on generic streetwear. The collage approach suits the series’ mix of jazz, noir, comedy and science-fiction, while the spread of T-shirts, hoodies, accessories and homeware gives the project a coherent visual range instead of one expensive centrepiece. The strongest pieces will likely be the ones that let Nagato’s artwork breathe; the denser designs risk becoming busy at a glance, but that visual excess is also part of the appeal here.

The timing is smart, too. Connecting the collection to the film’s 25th anniversary and 4K remaster gives the merchandise a clear cultural moment, while the 30 October launch leaves fans with specific dates and shops to check. It is a campaign built around the identity of Cowboy Bebop, not merely its name.
