Fairy Tail turns 20 with Graniph clothing collaboration
Fairy Tail’s 20th anniversary brings Natsu, Lucy, Happy and the guild to a ten-item Graniph clothing collection launching in Japan on 27 October.
Fairy Tail is marking its 20th anniversary with its first collaboration with Japanese clothing brand Graniph, bringing Natsu, Lucy, Happy and other members of the Fairy Tail guild to a ten-item collection. The range includes T-shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies, knitwear and a fleece jacket, with online pre-orders running ahead of the main launch on 27 October. 1
The collaboration celebrates the manga’s 20th anniversary. Hiro Mashima’s Fairy Tail began in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine in 2006 and follows Natsu Dragneel, a fire Dragon Slayer who belongs to the Fairy Tail wizard guild. The manga ran until 2017, while the television anime eventually reached 328 episodes across its original run and final series. A later adaptation, Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest, continued the guild’s adventures in 2024. 2
What is in the collection
Graniph’s line-up is built around recognisable characters and moments rather than a single anniversary logo. The “Guild Return” long-sleeve T-shirt uses the guild building and a celebratory image of its members. A second raglan long-sleeve T-shirt brings together Natsu, Lucy and other guild characters, with wording connected to the story’s explanation of the guild’s name. 1
Happy gets a dedicated hoodie featuring the winged Exceed in embroidered form, while a Natsu Dragneel zip hoodie adds a smaller Happy detail and a hidden Igneel print. Other designs include a Celestial Spirit Mage sweatshirt, a Grand Magic Games sweatshirt, a Mistgun jacquard knit and a Dragon Slayer T-shirt bringing together seven Dragon Slayers from the series. 1
The collection also includes a Grand Magic Games fleece blouson, with Natsu, Lucy and Happy represented on the chest and Fairy Tail motifs worked into the back design. The final T-shirt focuses on the Exceeds, including Happy and Charle. Prices range from ¥3,900 for the T-shirts to ¥9,900 for the Natsu hoodie and fleece blouson, with the full ten-item line-up listed by Graniph. 1
Dates and availability
Graniph’s online store is accepting advance reservations until 26 October at 11:59pm, Japan time. The collection goes on sale online and at selected Japanese Graniph shops on 27 October. The retailer’s official collection page lists stores in Tokyo, Fukuoka, Sapporo, Osaka, Hiroshima and other locations, alongside the online shop. 1
The official Graniph feature also includes comments from Mashima about the designs. He singled out the Happy hoodie and Mistgun knit as favourites, while the accompanying product guide explains how the artwork draws on guild imagery, character personalities and memorable scenes. 2
Our opinion
This is a stronger anniversary collaboration than a logo-only range because Graniph has used the breadth of Fairy Tail’s cast as the organising idea. The Happy hoodie is the obvious fan-facing centrepiece, but the guild-shirt and Dragon Slayer designs give older readers something more specific than a generic anniversary mark. The Japanese launch is also unusually clear: fans know exactly when reservations end, when the collection arrives and which products are included. The main limitation is availability, since the listed physical shops are in Japan and the announcement does not promise an international retail rollout. Still, for a 20th-anniversary fashion tie-in, this looks like a properly considered collection rather than a handful of rushed logo prints.
