Gachiakuta will return from hiatus on November 11, according to manga creator Kei Urana and posts from Kodansha's K MANGA account. The manga has been paused since August while Urana carried out research, with the return date now confirmed for the series' next chapter.1 The series last published a new chapter in the 36th and 37th combined issue of Weekly Shonen Magazine, which shipped on August 5. The magazine's website continued to mark the manga as being on hiatus while Urana conducted research for the work.1 Kodansha had previously said it would announce the return once the date was decided. The November 11 date comes from Urana's announcement on X, with K MANGA also sharing the news. Anime News Network reports that both accounts were listed as sources for the confirmation, making this more than a speculative return window.1 Written by Kei Urana, with graffiti design credited to Hideyoshi Ando, Gachiakuta follows Rudo, a boy from the slums of a floating town. The wealthy inhabitants throw their rubbish into an abyss, but Rudo is falsely accused of murder and exiled to the surface below. There he discovers that discarded waste has created dangerous monsters and joins the Cleaners while searching for the truth.1 Kodansha launched the manga in Weekly Shonen Magazine in February 2022. The publisher released the 19th compiled volume on July 16, while Kodansha USA handles the English edition. The television anime adaptation, produced by bones film, premiered in July 2025 and is available through Crunchyroll.1 The adaptation is also scheduled to receive a second season. The official trailer below shows the series' visual identity and central cast without confusing the manga return with a new anime announcement.2

Our opinion

A confirmed return date is welcome news for Gachiakuta readers, particularly because the hiatus was tied to research rather than an unexplained production delay. The pause has lasted long enough to build uncertainty, so a clear November 11 restart gives readers a useful point to circle without pretending that the manga's schedule is guaranteed beyond the announced date. The pause also makes sense in context: Urana is returning to a story with a large cast, a heavily designed world and a distinctive rubbish-powered setting. Taking the time to research before continuing is preferable to rushing chapters that do not meet the series' own visual and world-building ambitions. Readers can expect the manga to resume on November 11, while any further schedule changes should be judged against a fresh announcement from Urana or Kodansha.
