Magic Knight Rayearth gets an English dub on Crunchyroll
Crunchyroll confirms the English voice cast for the new Magic Knight Rayearth anime, alongside a dub for Sasaki and Peeps Season 2.
Magic Knight Rayearth is getting an English dub on Crunchyroll, with the streaming service confirming the cast and release details for the new anime based on CLAMP’s manga. Crunchyroll also announced an English dub for Sasaki and Peeps Season 2 in the same update. 1
Magic Knight Rayearth’s English dub cast
The English dub stars Rebecca Chiara Marano as Hikaru, Bryn Apprill as Umi and Kelly Greenshield as Fuu. Caitlin Glass voices Emeraude, Bradley Gareth plays Zagato, Jacob Hopkins voices Clef, Erin Nicole Lundquist plays Alcyone, and Christopher Wehkamp voices Lafarga. Crunchyroll is handling the dub production, with Justin Cook, Michael Harcourt and Nathanael Harrison among the studio producers. 1
The new Magic Knight Rayearth anime premiered in Japan on 7 October in TV Asahi’s IMAnimation W programming block. It follows Hikaru, Umi and Fuu after a class trip to Tokyo Tower transports them to Cefiro, a fantasy world threatened by the kidnapping of Princess Emeraude. The three girls become the Magic Knights and must work together to save the collapsing world. 1
Crunchyroll’s official trailer gives the remake a clear visual identity, placing the three leads at the centre of its fantasy setting. The series is a new adaptation of CLAMP’s manga, which ran in Kodansha’s Nakayoshi magazine from 1993 to 1996 and previously inspired two television anime seasons and a three-episode OVA project. 1
Sasaki and Peeps Season 2 also gets a dub
The same Crunchyroll announcement confirms English-dub casting for Sasaki and Peeps Season 2. Tyson Rinehart voices Sasaki, while Erin Nicole Lundquist plays Peeps. The supporting cast includes Taylor Murphy as Neighbor, Hollis Beck as Abaddon, Ray Hurd as Müller and Lisette Monique Diaz as Elsa. 1
The second season continues the story of an exhausted office worker whose pet bird turns out to be a sage from another world. Sasaki gains supernatural powers and the ability to cross between worlds, but his attempt to live quietly is complicated by the people and magical conflicts around him. 1
Our opinion
The dub announcement gives Magic Knight Rayearth a useful second route into the English-speaking anime audience rather than treating the remake as nostalgia alone. The cast list is substantial, and Crunchyroll’s official trailer makes the three-Magic-Knight dynamic immediately legible even to viewers who have never watched the 1990s adaptation. Pairing the news with Sasaki and Peeps Season 2 also shows how much of Crunchyroll’s current push is about making newly airing series easier to follow in English, not just adding older favourites to its catalogue.
