Lulutto Lilly cour 2 starts 4 October with ILLIT's theme
Pierrot's battling sisters return for a second cour on 4 October, with ILLIT performing the opening theme and a cour-one recap special airing the night before.
The sisters are back on duty. Magical Sisters Lulutto Lilly, Studio Pierrot's original magical-girl series, returns for its second cour on 4 October, and the main promotional video published on 24 September confirms ILLIT performs the opening theme, Swingin’ Magic.
The same day brought a full slate of scheduling news to the series' official site. A cour-one recap compilation, Magical Sisters Lulutto Lilly: so close, so far apart, airs on TOKYO MX on 3 October, with ABEMA running a catch-up marathon of the twelve cour-one episodes on 4 October and a second-cour web preview coming for Meter, the character played by Hikaru Yaotome of Hey! Say! JUMP. A Song Collection & Soundtrack 2 album is also confirmed.
Japan first, for now
Cour two is a Japanese broadcast commitment: TOKYO MX and other domestic stations, with the recap and the marathon tied to Japanese services that are geo-locked from outside the country. Carriage of cour one elsewhere does not automatically carry over, so treat any overseas streaming plan as unannounced until the rights holders say otherwise.
Our opinion
Dropping a recap special the night before a cour premiere is a blunt instrument, and it works: the audience that drifted over the summer gets a single evening to catch up, and the marathon does the rest. Handing the opening theme to ILLIT is the more interesting signal, because it points the marketing at an idol audience rather than a traditional magical-girl one, which may well be the smartest reading of a crowded October.
