MURCIÉLAGO anime reveals main cast and teaser PV
MURCIÉLAGO has revealed its main cast, character designs and teaser PV ahead of its January 2027 anime broadcast.
MURCIÉLAGO is heading to television in January 2027, and its official anime site has now introduced the three central members of its violent, very strange buddy-action cast. The production committee has also published character designs, cast comments and a new teaser PV ahead of the broadcast.1
The cast and characters
Hitomi Ueda voices Kuroko Koumori, a former death-row inmate who has been selected as a state-sanctioned executioner. The official introduction presents Kuroko as an exceptionally dangerous figure with formidable fighting skills, a taste for flirting and a deliberately warped sense of ethics. She is also described as someone who can switch from absurd comedy to much darker violence without warning.1
Minori Suzuki plays Hinako Tozakura, Kuroko's partner and watchdog. Hinako is characterised as an apparently carefree young woman with extraordinary driving ability and an unusual talent for calculating the best route through almost any situation. The production material also positions her as Kuroko's emotional and practical counterweight, even as the pair take on increasingly dangerous assignments.1
Sumire Uesaka joins them as Chiyo Yanaoka, Kuroko's lover and the daughter of the head of the Yanaoka yakuza family. Chiyo is presented as fiercely protective, quick to anger and more frightening than anyone when provoked. Her relationship with Kuroko adds another volatile thread to a story already built around state-sanctioned violence and chaotic personal loyalties.1
The official site describes the anime as a buddy-action series in which evil is fought with evil. Kuroko and Hinako are sent after heinous criminals, while the teaser material promises a mix of everyday absurdity, bloodshed and an unusually unfiltered central partnership. The newly released visual brings Kuroko, Hinako and Chiyo together, giving the adaptation a clearer identity beyond its cast announcement.12
Production and release window
Takashi Naoya serves as chief director and series composer, with Matsuo Asami directing. Kiyoshi Tateishi is handling character design, while Masanori Akita and Yuichi Tsuchiya are composing the music. Animation production comes from SATELIGHT and Staple Entertainment.2
The TV anime is scheduled to begin airing in Japan in January 2027. The official announcement confirms the month but does not give a specific premiere date, so there is no exact episode-one date to report yet.12
Our opinion
This is a promising first look because the update does more than name three actors: it establishes the triangle that should drive the adaptation. Kuroko supplies the lethal unpredictability, Hinako gives the story a grounded partner dynamic and Chiyo adds a personal connection that can turn every encounter into a new argument. The official visual also makes the tonal pitch clear, pairing brightly exaggerated character work with guns, blades and a grim city backdrop.
The January 2027 window still leaves plenty of time for the committee to announce a precise date and further streaming details. For now, the cast reveal, character art and teaser PV make MURCIÉLAGO one to watch for anime fans who like their action series dangerous, eccentric and unapologetically excessive.
