My Sword Saint Master Is Too Cute to Live With! has unveiled its first teaser, introducing the television anime's main cast ahead of its January 2027 debut. The video gives the romantic comedy a bright, knowingly playful tone, with Liza Parsandra's imposing sword-saint reputation rubbing against the more domestic chaos suggested by the series' title.

The announced cast includes Ai Kakuma as Liza Parsandra, Seena Hoshiki as Eugene Dawson, Hitomi Ueda as Cordelia Dawson, Azusa Tsujimori as Erin Toa, Tomoyo Takayanagi as Meris Eclipse and Miyu Tomita as Fiona Rosso. Minami Takahashi also joins as Lumiere Theomere, while Ueda will narrate the series as well as voicing Cordelia.

Masayoshi Nishida is directing at Wolfsbane and Lightbox, with Noriyoshi Sasaki serving as technical director. Yōhei Kashii is handling the series scripts, Ichirō Tanaka is designing the characters, and Yusho Hayakawa is working as sub-character designer and chief animation director. The production's music comes from 12sound.

The anime adapts Kennoji and R_ringo's manga, which follows Eugene after his desire to become stronger leads him to the powerful but scatterbrained Sword Saint Liza. Seven Seas Entertainment has licensed the manga for an English release beginning in June 2027 under its Ghost Ship imprint.

The teaser does not yet provide a more precise January broadcast date, so the month is the firmest timing currently available. Its cast announcement nevertheless gives the adaptation a clearer identity: this is not simply a power fantasy about an unbeatable mentor, but a romantic comedy built around the awkwardness of living and training with one.

Our opinion

The early material is doing the sensible thing by selling the character dynamic before promising a large-scale action showcase. Liza's strength is the obvious hook, but the contrast between that reputation and the series' deliberately affectionate comedy is what could make the adaptation stand out among January's new anime. The key question now is whether Wolfsbane and Lightbox can give the cast enough visual energy to match the teaser's confident presentation.

For now, the combination of a named cast, a confirmed January window and a teaser that understands its central joke makes this one worth keeping on the seasonal radar. The premise is unabashedly silly, but that is precisely why a committed romantic-comedy tone could work in its favour.
