Anime Corner reports that the second season will stream weekly exclusively on Netflix. Superfly will perform the ending theme ‘Hanakage’, giving the new season a fresh musical identity while the returning cast heads back into the complicated friendships and crushes at the centre of the story.
What the new trailer reveals
The trailer returns to Koyuki Hikawa, Miki Azumi, Minato Amamiya and Yota Hino as their relationships continue to pull in different directions. Koyuki’s guarded nature remains the emotional anchor, while Minato’s openness, Miki’s popularity and Yota’s relaxed presence keep the group from settling into anything resembling a simple romantic arrangement.
The anime is based on Kōcha Agasawa’s manga and is produced by Studio KAI. A new opening theme is a small detail, but it is the right sort of detail for The Ramparts of Ice. This series lives or dies on mood: the awkward pauses, the half-finished confessions and the feeling that one honest conversation could either solve everything or set the whole friend group on fire.
THE BEAT GARDEN’s ‘Escort’ gives Season 2 a useful signal before the first episode arrives. The story already has four characters carrying enough unresolved feelings to fill an entire emotional filing cabinet, so a trailer that leans into movement rather than tidy answers is promising. If the new season keeps its bruised, recognisable view of young romance, it deserves a place on the weekly-watch list.
