Silent Hill f gets a Fox Mask manga in Weekly Famitsu
Konami and original writer Ryukishi07 are supervising a two-part manga adaptation of Silent Hill f, beginning with the Fox Mask's origin story in late 2026.
Silent Hill f is getting a manga. Famitsu published the announcement on 9 September, confirming that the horror game's Fox Mask character will carry a two-part adaptation in Weekly Famitsu, with the first part due in late 2026.
What's actually going on
The manga is supervised by the game's original writer, Ryukishi07, alongside Konami, and drawn by a new artist credited as Ayato. It is split into two instalments, and the first covers the origin story of the Fox Mask itself, the smiling wooden face that became one of the game's most recognisable images.
Silent Hill f launched on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC on 25 September 2025. Konami said cumulative worldwide shipments had passed one million units by 26 September, counting physical and digital copies together. Ryukishi07 wrote the story, kera designed the creatures and characters, Motoi Okamoto produced, and Neobards Entertainment developed it.
It is not the game's first trip to print. A separate adaptation by Ame Gōkin, carrying a new ending written by Ryukishi07, began on Kadokawa's Young Ace Up website on 22 April. The wider franchise is busy too: Annapurna Interactive's Silent Hill: Townfall arrives on PlayStation 5 on 24 September, with PC versions on Steam and the Epic Games Store.
Why you should care
Silent Hill f was already a departure for the series, swapping the usual American small town for 1960s rural Japan and handing the script to the writer behind Higurashi: When They Cry. A manga that digs into the Fox Mask deepens the part of the game that players latched onto hardest, and running it in Weekly Famitsu puts it in front of readers who have followed Ryukishi07 for two decades.
Our opinion
The Fox Mask is the right thing to adapt, because it is the one image in Silent Hill f that works before you know anything about it: a smiling face where a face should not be. Splitting the story in two also suggests Konami is treating this as a piece of the canon rather than a promotional pamphlet, and Ryukishi07's involvement matters more than the format does. He built Higurashi on ordinary village life curdling into something unbearable across repeated tellings, which is close to exactly what a two-part origin story needs. The risk is the usual one for game tie-ins, that a manga ends up explaining a mystery the game was stronger for leaving alone. The Fox Mask works best as a question.
