Solo Leveling: Karma gives Igris a funny new training mission
Solo Leveling: Karma’s latest Moments Inbetween episode gives Igris a funny new training mission inspired by Sung Jinwoo.
Solo Leveling: Karma’s official Moments Inbetween webtoon has returned with a new episode that puts Igris at the centre of a joke about swordsmanship, discipline and the habits he picked up from Sung Jinwoo. The episode was published through the series’ official social account, according to CBR.12
Igris tries to copy Jinwoo
The new episode follows Igris as he attempts to overcome what he sees as his greatest weakness: he cannot wield a sword with both hands. Jinwoo’s trademark dual-wielding is the inspiration, with Igris deciding that copying his king’s technique will help him become a stronger fighter.
Rather than simply repeating sword drills, Igris takes a more awkward route. He practises everyday tasks such as writing and holding chopsticks with both hands, trying to force himself to become ambidextrous. The gag fits the character’s usually serious presentation while giving the side story a chance to explore his personality away from the main battles.
The episode also leans into the history shared by the two characters. Igris was reborn as a Shadow Soldier during the same broad arc that made Jinwoo’s dual-wielding imagery so memorable, making the reference feel like more than a random visual joke. It connects the short webtoon to a recognisable moment from the wider Solo Leveling story without retelling the original scene.
What this means for Solo Leveling: Karma
Solo Leveling: Karma is continuing the franchise’s story through the 27-year war against the Monarchs. The Moments Inbetween episodes are smaller side stories, but they provide space for familiar characters to appear in situations that would not necessarily fit the main plot.
That matters because the franchise is built around Sung Jinwoo’s rise, while characters such as Igris often work best when they are allowed a little room away from the central hero. The new episode uses a simple training joke to show Igris’ loyalty and determination, while also reminding readers that he has his own personality and goals.
The episode does not confirm that this particular side story will be adapted into animation. However, the wider Solo Leveling: Karma storyline has been described as canonical and was created with input from series creator Chugong, so its additional material remains relevant to fans tracking the franchise’s next chapter.1
Our opinion
This is a small update, but it is exactly the sort of character-focused detour that makes a large franchise feel lived-in. Igris learning to use chopsticks with both hands is a deliberately silly premise, yet it also gives him an identifiable motivation beyond standing silently behind Jinwoo. The story is not announcing a new anime season or revealing a major plot twist, and it should not be sold as one. Its value is simpler: Solo Leveling: Karma is still finding ways to make its supporting cast feel active while the larger story continues.
