The Strongest Man, Born From Misfortune is getting ready to swap one kind of bad luck for another-world adventure. The upcoming television anime has revealed a promotional video, two characters and a new illustration, while confirming that Siegbert’s second life will begin on screens in 2027.

What’s actually going on: Siegbert is reincarnated in another world as a “lucky one” after spending his first life suffering constant misfortune. His older brother Gert is almost the complete opposite — a naturally gifted figure whose exceptional talent makes him a formidable presence in the new world.

The newly announced cast and staff give the adaptation a clearer shape. Shōya Chiba stars as Siegbert and performs the image song “Luck Out”, for which he also wrote the lyrics. Shigetaka Ikeda directs, Aki Mizuki handles series composition and screenplay, and Yumiko Hara and Yūki Osada design the characters. East Fish Studio is producing the animation.

The anime will debut in 2027, although no season, month or exact date has been announced. There is also no confirmed broadcaster, streaming service, English licence or international release plan. MangaPlaza’s digital English release of the manga should not be mistaken for confirmation of anime distribution outside Japan.

The original novel began serialisation on Shōsetsuka ni Narō in November 2020. Starts Publishing released the fourth print novel volume in March 2025, while the manga’s ninth compiled volume shipped on 27 March 2026. The wider franchise has more than 1.75 million copies in circulation.

Why you should care: the setup gives the familiar reincarnation formula a neat bit of dramatic contrast. Siegbert’s lifetime of misfortune is replaced by apparent good fortune, but having a naturally brilliant older brother in the same story suggests that being “lucky” may not mean being the strongest person in the room. That sibling dynamic could give the series more personality than its title initially promises.

Our opinion

The premise is familiar, but the contrast between Siegbert’s hard-luck past and his talented older brother gives The Strongest Man, Born From Misfortune a useful hook. The 2027 window is still frustratingly broad, and the lack of a broadcaster or streaming partner means overseas viewers have nothing concrete to plan around. For now, consider this one a promising watchlist addition rather than a date for the diary.
