Aoashi Season 2 drops its main trailer ahead of October premiere

Aoashi Season 2 is ready to get back on the pitch. The official anime website has released the main trailer, confirmed a 4 October Japanese premiere and revealed new theme-song artists for Ashito Aoi’s next football challenge.

The update adds meaningful detail to the existing autumn seasonal entry, while stopping short of confirming where international viewers will be able to watch it.

What's actually going on

Japanese broadcasting begins on 4 October 2026. NHK E-Tele lists the series for Sundays at 17:00 JST, giving the second season a clear weekly slot in Japan.

TMS Entertainment is producing the animation, taking over from Production I.G. The planned first cour covers 12 of 24 episodes, according to Anime Corner, although the official broadcast announcement is the stronger source for the premiere date and promotional material.

10-FEET performs the opening theme, while Ai Higuchi provides the ending theme. The established central cast includes Kōki Ōsuzu as Ashito Aoi, Ryūmaru Tachibana as Eisaku Otomo and Shunsuke Takeuchi as Nagisa Akutsu.

No overseas streaming or licensing announcement for Season 2 was verified. The Japanese broadcast date should therefore not be presented as a confirmed worldwide release.

Why you should care

The change in animation production is worth watching. TMS Entertainment inherits a series with a strong reputation for treating football as a tactical and emotional sport rather than a convenient excuse for superpowers and impossible hair.

The 17:00 NHK E-Tele slot also places Aoashi firmly in a mainstream Japanese television schedule. That does not guarantee international access, but it shows the sequel is being positioned as a major returning sports anime.

The main trailer suggests Aoashi understands what made the first season work: the football is important, but the pressure around young players trying to earn a place matters just as much. TMS taking over is a significant change, so the animation will need to prove itself once matches begin.

Recommendation: keep Aoashi Season 2 on the autumn watchlist. The premiere date and theme-song news make this a worthwhile update to the seasonal calendar, but international viewers should wait for a confirmed streaming announcement rather than assume the first season’s distribution carries over.
