Chiikawa launches 18 new merchandise designs
The official Chiikawa Market has launched 18 new products, including rugby shirts, knit cardigans, T-shirts and character accessories.
Chiikawa (ちいかわ), the anime and manga property created by illustrator Nagano, has received a sizeable new merchandise drop through the official Chiikawa Market shop. The 16 October release covers clothing, bags, household items and accessories, giving fans a much broader selection than a single character plush or seasonal trinket. 1
What is in the new drop
The official shop lists 18 products in the release collection. The headline items include rugby shirts, knit cardigans and T-shirts, alongside eco bags, folding clear trays, hand towels and aprons. The rugby shirts use Chiikawa characters including Chiikawa, Hachiware, Usagi and Momonga, while the cardigan designs pair characters in a college-inspired layout. 1
The official product photography shows the range is not limited to one colourway. One rugby shirt uses a cream, red and navy palette, with Chiikawa and Hachiware artwork across the chest and a character badge on the upper front. Other listings use different character pairings and colours, so the collection has a deliberately varied fashion angle rather than simply repeating one graphic. 1
Availability and prices
The release went on sale through Chiikawa Market on 16 October. The official collection page lists the rugby shirts at ¥6,380, the knit cardigans at ¥7,150 and the T-shirts at ¥3,850, all including Japanese consumption tax. The eco bags are listed at ¥3,190, while the folding clear trays are ¥1,320. 1
Those prices and availability are specific to the Japanese official shop. Some items were already marked as sold out in the reporting around launch, so readers interested in a particular colour or character pairing should check the individual product page rather than assume the full collection remains available. 12
Oricon reports that the new merchandise includes rugby shirts, cardigans, eco bags, T-shirts, clear trays, hand towels and aprons. Its report also notes the wider appeal of Chiikawa’s contrast between its small, cute characters and a more unexpectedly severe world, which has helped the property reach both children and adult fans. 2
Our opinion
This is a stronger merchandise launch than the usual one-product character refresh because the official range has a clear visual idea: Chiikawa’s cast is being turned into wearable college and sports-style designs. The rugby shirts are the most distinctive part of the drop, while the lower-priced bags and trays make the same release easier to approach for fans who do not want to spend on clothing. The important caveat is availability. With some products already selling through, this is a collection to browse promptly rather than a promise that every design will remain in stock.
