DanMachi: Frontier Zero game announced for 2027
enish has announced DanMachi: Frontier Zero, a game-original story planned for PC, mobile and consoles in 2027.
enish has announced Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? Frontier Zero — the new game based on Fujino Omori’s fantasy series — for a worldwide release in 2027. The announcement describes it as a game-original story created with Omori’s cooperation, rather than a direct retelling of an existing novel or anime arc.1
The Japanese title, Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru Darou ka: Frontier Zero (ダンジョンに出会いを求めるのは間違っているだろうか フロンティア・ゼロ), will be released for PC, smartphones and multiple consoles. enish says the game is also planned for overseas distribution, although it has not yet confirmed the specific platforms, launch regions or release date.1
A new story for the DanMachi world
Frontier Zero will explore events that do not appear in the original light novels or the anime adaptation. The project is being developed with the cooperation of Omori, giving the announcement a stronger connection to the source material than a game that simply borrows its characters and setting.
The release graphic confirms the 2027 window, but enish has not announced gameplay footage, pre-registration details, pricing or a more precise launch date. The company says further information will be shared through the game’s official X account. That means the announcement establishes the project and its broad format, but leaves the practical details still to come.1
The original DanMachi novels are published in Japan by SB Creative under the GA Bunko imprint, while the English edition is available from Yen Press. The anime’s fifth season is available through HIDIVE, giving international fans an existing route into the story while they wait for Frontier Zero.
Our opinion
A game-original DanMachi story has an obvious advantage: it can give longtime fans something new instead of making them replay a familiar plot. Omori’s involvement is encouraging, particularly if the game treats the setting’s factions and dungeon politics as more than decoration. The risk is that “multiple consoles” and “worldwide release” are still promises rather than a launch plan. Until enish shows how Frontier Zero plays, this is an intriguing announcement, not yet a reason to book out 2027.
