Eleceed TV anime delayed to April 2027
The official ELECEED anime trailer confirms that the webtoon adaptation has moved from its planned 2026 premiere to April 2027.
The Eleceed TV anime has pushed its premiere window back to April 2027, according to an announcement accompanying a new English-subtitled trailer.1 The adaptation of Jeho Son and ZHENA’s webtoon had previously been announced for 2026, making the April date the first clear update to its schedule.
What happened
The official Eleceed anime website and its YouTube channel published the new trailer on Wednesday. The video introduces the series’ central setup: Jiwoo Seo is a high-school student who discovers a hidden world of people with superhuman abilities after taking in an injured stray cat. That cat is actually Kayden, a powerful Awakened fighter trapped in feline form.1
The trailer also uses alternate names for several characters in its English-subtitled presentation. Anime News Network reports that Junya Enoki voices Jiwoo, while Tasuku Hatanaka plays Wooin. Setsuji Satō, Hayato Dojima and Shizuka Itō are also among the announced cast.1
The adaptation so far
DandeLion Animation Studio is producing the series, with Hiroshi Nishikiori directing. Yousuke Kuroda is overseeing the scripts and Minami Sakura is designing the characters, according to the production details reported by Anime News Network.1 The staff list gives the adaptation a clear action-anime pedigree, but the new trailer is the better indication of how this version is shaping its visual identity.
The series is based on the long-running webtoon by Son and ZHENA, which has been published in multiple languages. Its premise combines school drama, super-powered conflict and a talking-cat relationship at the centre of the story. That mix is doing a lot of work: Jiwoo provides the coming-of-age viewpoint, while Kayden brings the larger-than-life action and comedy.
Our opinion
A delay to April 2027 is disappointing for readers who were expecting the anime next year, but it is also a useful correction to the schedule rather than a vague disappearance. The new trailer gives the production a chance to show more of its cast and tone while the team has additional time to finish the adaptation.
The bigger question is whether the eventual series can preserve the webtoon’s balance between explosive fights and the quieter bond between Jiwoo and Kayden. The trailer points towards that combination, but it is too early to judge the full show from a promotional cut. For now, the confirmed April 2027 window and the official trailer are the story: Eleceed is still coming, just later than originally planned.
