Grotesqqque's 4649Girl segment will stream exclusively on Netflix in Japan from October 23 to November 5, giving the film's second story a limited run before the full anthology reaches Japanese cinemas on November 6. The announcement comes from the production's official site.1

The segment is titled 4649Girl, with the Japanese title Yoroshiku Shoujo (夜露死駆★少女). It follows Stella, a girl drawn into a violent battle royale in the sleepless city of GALs TOKYO, where girls known as GAL-P compete to become the Queen. The official synopsis describes a contest filled with weapons, shifting alliances and a mystery hidden inside the game.1

The Netflix release will include a collaboration music video for “Shoot Shoot Shoot”, the opening theme by METALVERSE. The production says that music-video pairing is part of the limited streaming presentation, making the early online release more than a simple advance screening.1

Sara Minami voices Stella in her first voice-acting role. In a comment published by the production, Minami said she was excited — and slightly nervous — to share the work with audiences, adding that viewers could enter the story without knowing its characters or premise beforehand.1

Grotesqqque is an anthology of three original animated stories. The other segments are Aeliens and Nocturn: In This Grotesque Night. Atsushi Nishigori directs and writes the film, CloverWorks handles animation production, and Takahiro Miura serves as episode director for 4649Girl.1

Our opinion

This is a smart way to give Grotesqqque a first audience without pretending the anthology is arriving early in full. A short, clearly defined Netflix window lets viewers sample the most immediately high-concept segment — a neon battle royale built around music and spectacle — while keeping the November 6 cinema release as the main event. The paired METALVERSE video also gives the streaming version a distinct identity rather than making it feel like a stray advance upload.

The practical catch is the territory: this is a Japan-only Netflix window, running for less than two weeks. For everyone else, Grotesqqque remains a cinema date to watch, with 4649Girl acting as an intriguing first glimpse of the larger anthology rather than a global streaming launch.
