Hotaru no Yomeiri live-action adaptation set for 2027
The Hotaru no Yomeiri manga and anime will receive a Fuji TV live-action adaptation in 2027, but casting details remain secret.
The anime and manga Hotaru no Yomeiri is getting a live-action television adaptation in 2027, Fuji TV and the official anime website have announced. Casting has not yet been revealed. 1
What we know
The adaptation will air on Fuji TV networks, with Fuji TV listed as its production and copyright holder. The announcement arrived after the anime’s first episode, alongside a teaser promotion for the live-action project. 1
The original manga by Oreco Tachibana is set in the Meiji era and follows Satoko Kirigaya, a noblewoman facing a deadly diagnosis, and Shinpei Goto, an assassin whose devotion to her is as dangerous as it is intense. The television anime began airing on 9 October, with Lynn, Koki Uchiyama and Kento Ito among the announced cast. 2
Tachibana said the live-action version will let audiences see how the characters live and move in the real world. The creator also cautioned that the adaptation may tell a somewhat different story, framing it as a new version of Hotaru no Yomeiri rather than a direct replay of the manga. 1
Casting remains under wraps
Fuji TV says more information, including the cast, will be released in due course. For now, the 2027 broadcast window is the only confirmed timing. 1
Our opinion
This is an unusually quick double adaptation: the anime has only just begun, yet the live-action project already has its first announcement. The lack of casting means the most important creative question is still unanswered, but the official confirmation gives the project a firm footing rather than leaving it as fan speculation.
