Initial D Super Battle Zippo limited to 150 pieces

The ninth licensed Initial D Zippo design features Takumi Fujiwara and his AE86, with reservations open for a numbered run of just 150 pieces.

Initial D Super Battle Zippo lighter with Takumi Fujiwara and an AE86 design

A new Initial D Zippo lighter is now available to pre-order in Japan, with the licensed “Super Battle” design limited to 150 individually numbered pieces. The ninth release in the collaboration’s series features artwork of Takumi Fujiwara and his AE86 on a black nickel-finished lighter, with a manga battle scene engraved on the reverse. 1

The product is based on Initial D (頭文字D), Shuichi Shigeno’s manga about downhill racers battling through mountain passes. The new Zippo is an officially licensed Kodansha product, and the design uses laser engraving rather than a printed finish. That leaves the champagne-coloured artwork contrasting against the lighter’s glossy black body. 1

What the limited Zippo includes

The “Super Battle” model is made from brass by Zippo in the United States and measures 5.5 by 3.8 by 1.2 centimetres. Each lighter carries a random serial number as part of the 150-unit production run. The front artwork centres on Takumi and the AE86, while the reverse uses a scene from the manga’s racing battles. 1

The product is priced at ¥16,500 including tax, with stock expected in early December 2026. Pre-orders are being handled through CAMSHOP.JP, the sales page linked by Anime! Anime!, rather than through a general anime merchandise retailer. 1

That limited run gives the release a different appeal from a mass-market character lighter. It is aimed at collectors who want a licensed Initial D object with a specific connection to the manga’s artwork, rather than a simple logo-only accessory. The random numbering also means buyers cannot choose a particular number from the run.

A collector release rather than a new anime announcement

There is no new anime production attached to this product. The news is the start of reservations for the ninth Zippo design, with the licence and the source artwork doing most of the work. Buyers should also check the linked sales page for shipping, international availability and final stock details before ordering, as the source warns that availability can change.

The design itself leans into the series’ strongest visual shorthand: Takumi, the AE86 and a dramatic mountain-racing confrontation. That makes the lighter recognisable without relying on a newly released trailer or key visual, while the engraved finish should age differently from a printed image.

Our opinion

The “Super Battle” Zippo understands the collector audience better than a generic character-branded accessory would. The numbered 150-piece run, the manga engraving and the AE86 artwork give it a clear identity, even if ¥16,500 makes this a specialist purchase rather than an impulse buy. For Initial D fans who collect licensed props, the specificity is the point; everyone else can admire the design without needing to chase a limited pre-order.
