Kizuato to Houtai reveals new visual, teaser PV and cast member
Kizuato to Houtai reveals a second key visual, teaser PV and Shoya Ishige as Ginsuke Hatobane ahead of its January 2027 broadcast.
The television anime Kizuato to Houtai (傷口と包帯) has revealed a second key visual and a teaser PV, alongside the announcement that voice actor Shoya Ishige will play Ginsuke Hatobane. The series is scheduled to begin on 9 January 2027 on ABC TV and TV Asahi in Japan.
The adaptation is based on Kaisei Nanai’s manga, which runs in Comic Days. Its story centres on Rise, the daughter of a yakuza group leader, and Kiriya, a young executive assigned to look after her. Oricon describes the series as a yakuza romantic comedy built around unusual personal fixations.
The new visual introduces Ginsuke as the third son of the leader of the Hatobane group and Rise’s arranged-marriage partner. He initially appears to be a mild-mannered otaku, but the visual also shows a more unsettling side when he reveals the scar beneath his fringe.
The teaser PV focuses on Ginsuke’s contrasting expressions and his shared “Yowalara” fixation with Rise. The preview uses dialogue from the manga and follows Rise’s fascination with seeing strong people become vulnerable, giving the anime a sharper edge than its romantic-comedy label alone might suggest.
Ishige said he was shocked by the opening of the manga when he first read it for the audition and became increasingly drawn in as he continued. He added that he wanted to play Ginsuke and was delighted to be cast. The comments offer an early indication of how strongly the new character is expected to shape the adaptation’s tone.
The series is being presented with the second theme visual and teaser ahead of its January broadcast. Further broadcast information listed by Oricon includes ABEMA distribution and later slots on Animax and AT-X.
Our opinion
Kizuato to Houtai is already signalling that Ginsuke will not be a decorative new cast member. The visual’s split between soft-spoken presentation and exposed menace gives the character an immediate hook, while the teaser appears to build its comedy around discomfort rather than smoothing the premise into something generic. That makes Ishige’s casting announcement worth watching: the voice performance will need to sell both halves of Ginsuke without losing the series’ romantic momentum.
Source details are based on Oricon’s report and its credited key visual from the anime project.
