Masako Nozawa’s official 90th-anniversary project expands with a 90-set Legacy Collection box and a wider made-to-order merchandise line.

Masako Nozawa, the voice actor best known internationally as the voice of Son Goku in Dragon Ball, is turning 90 with a new chapter of her official anniversary merchandise project. FAVOLC has announced the second phase, titled the MASAKO NOZAWA 90TH ANNIVERSARY PROJECT: Legacy Collection, ahead of Nozawa’s birthday on 25 October. 1

What is in the Legacy Collection

The centrepiece is an Anniversary Box limited to 90 sets, with the quantity tied directly to Nozawa’s milestone birthday. FAVOLC says the box will contain special items made exclusively for the project, positioning it as a separate anniversary package rather than a standard release. The official announcement says sales begin at midnight on 25 October. 1

The collection’s imagery includes a portrait of Nozawa and designs that look back across her career. Oricon reports that the box includes an art panel, a T-shirt using a younger photograph of Nozawa, a GOD-design tote bag, a collage-style acrylic keyring and a limited badge made specifically for the box. The reported price is 24,750 yen, with sales ending once the planned quantity is reached. 2

FAVOLC will also open made-to-order sales for five further items from 9pm on 26 October. The wider line includes T-shirts, a light sweatshirt, a cushion cover and a tote bag, giving fans a route into the project beyond the tightly limited box. 1

The campaign follows an earlier Celebration Collection, which was built around marking Nozawa’s 90th birthday with fans. The Legacy Collection shifts the emphasis towards the voice actor’s long career and the idea of carrying that legacy into the future, rather than treating the birthday as a finish line. 1

Why it matters

Nozawa’s career spans some of anime’s most recognisable characters, but this project is notable because it is framed around her as a performer rather than being merchandise for one fictional role. The portrait-led designs make that distinction clear: the subject is the person behind decades of performances, with Dragon Ball providing the most familiar point of reference for many international fans.

Our opinion

A 90-set anniversary box is an extremely narrow release, but the broader made-to-order range gives this campaign more substance than a single collector’s bundle. The strongest idea is the decision to build the visual identity around Nozawa herself. It celebrates a career that crosses generations without pretending that one franchise is the whole story, while the limited box gives the milestone a genuinely commemorative centrepiece.
