Nurumeta anime adaptation set for 2027 with staff revealed

Nurumeta is heading to television in 2027, with Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 director Kai Igarashi leading the anime’s main staff.

Nurumeta (ぬるめた), the four-panel manga by Kokamomo, is being adapted into a television anime scheduled to air in 2027. The announcement also confirms the main staff and releases a teaser visual for the series.12

The story follows Kurumi, an android, her guardian Chiaki, cool and easy-going Sakina, and the group’s lone voice of reason, Shiyuki. The official introduction describes the show as an “alternative everyday” story that pushes beyond the usual boundaries of slice-of-life anime.1

The staff behind Nurumeta

Kai Igarashi, who has worked on striking animation projects including Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, will make his television-directing debut on Nurumeta. Makoto Ogasawara is handling character designs, while Tatsuya Takahashi is writing the series composition. The anime will be produced by Sowane, the studio behind mono and The Shiunji Family Children.12

The official site presents the adaptation as a major shift for the manga’s deliberately oddball daily-life premise. Its teaser visual shows one of the characters breaking through a bright blue field of shattered glass, alongside a 2027 release notice. The production committee credits Kokamomo, Houbunsha and the Nurumeta committee for the artwork.1

Oricon reports that the original manga runs in Houbunsha’s Manga Time Kirara MAX. The publication also carries comments from Kokamomo and Igarashi, with the creator thanking readers and the director saying he wants to deliver an enjoyable anime.2

What we know about the release

There is no more specific broadcast season, date, streaming platform or episode count yet. The confirmed information is limited to a 2027 television broadcast, the staff announcement and the teaser visual. That leaves plenty of room for a later promotional push to reveal the studio’s production schedule and distribution plans.12

The project’s official website is already live, giving the adaptation a clear primary source rather than leaving the announcement dependent on a magazine listing or a social-media rumour. The site also confirms the central cast setup and the staff credits, while Oricon independently reports the same announcement.12

Our opinion

Nurumeta is an unusually promising anime announcement because its hook is more specific than “four friends have everyday adventures”. An android, a guardian and a deliberately unstable version of slice-of-life comedy give the adaptation a clear identity before a single episode has aired. Igarashi’s first television directing job is another reason to keep an eye on it, although the project still needs a release window and footage before anyone can judge how well the manga’s weirdness survives the move to animation.

For now, the sensible takeaway is simple: Nurumeta is officially coming to television in 2027, but the important practical details remain to be announced. The teaser visual establishes the tone; the next trailer will need to show the rhythm and character chemistry that make the premise work.12
