One Piece gives Nami a new Kentaro Yabuki card design
Nami's new EB05-055 card features an East Blue-inspired design by To Love-Ru creator Kentaro Yabuki.
Nami has received a new official design for the One Piece Card Game, and this one comes with a notable creative credit. The illustration for the EB05-055 card in the upcoming ONE PIECE Heroines Edition vol.2 Extra Booster was drawn by Kentaro Yabuki, the manga artist best known for To Love-Ru and Black Cat.
The card is part of a wider booster focused on the women of the One Piece world. The official product page describes EB-05 as the second Extra Booster built around heroines, with new cards and alternate illustrations designed to add more character-focused options to players' decks. The set is due to launch on 30 October 2026.
Yabuki gives Nami a familiar but fresh look
The new artwork returns Nami to a recognisable East Blue-era style. She has short orange hair, a striped blue-and-white top and orange-and-white shorts, while the card surrounds her with money, hearts and a cat motif that nods to her “Cat Burglar” epithet.
That visual callback is paired with Yabuki's own line work. According to CBR, this is the first time the artist has drawn a Nami card for the series. The result is not a complete redesign that abandons the character's history. Instead, it treats the earliest version of Nami as a visual starting point and pushes it through the softer, more decorative presentation used for the set's heroine cards.
The EB05-055 card is marked as a Secret Rare and carries the Wisdom attribute. Its official text gives it a leader-related effect, allowing players to add a card from the top of their deck to their Life cards when the leader has the Wisdom attribute. A second effect can play the card when the player has two or fewer Life cards, giving the artwork a clear place within the product rather than making it a purely promotional illustration.
The card sits inside a heroine-heavy set
Nami is not the only familiar face returning in EB-05. The official product page highlights a new Nico Robin Leader card and says the set includes heroine cards in several different illustration styles. It also advertises six special-design cards and the Yabuki-illustrated alternate-art card as one of the set's headline attractions.
The wider release includes 75 standard card types plus two additional types, spanning commons, rares, Super Rares, Secret Rares, Leader cards, Special Cards and DON!! Cards. The English-language product page lists an MSRP of $4.99 per pack and says the set will be available from 30 October, although tournament legality is subject to the regional pre-release rules.
The official site also provides a promotional video and a card-list link for players who want to see the set's other reveals. That makes the Nami illustration part of a larger campaign rather than an isolated leak: Bandai is using the heroine theme, the returning character designs and the Yabuki credit to position EB-05 as a collector-friendly expansion as well as a playable release.
Our opinion
The appeal of this card is straightforward: it understands why Nami remains one of One Piece's most durable characters. The East Blue styling makes the image immediately recognisable, while Yabuki's involvement gives the alternate art a genuine point of difference instead of merely changing the pose. It is also a smart fit for a heroine-focused set, because the design feels like a deliberate meeting of character history, card-game collecting and manga-art crossover appeal. Whether the card becomes a competitive favourite will depend on the full EB-05 environment, but as a headline piece for the expansion, it has the right combination of nostalgia and novelty.
