The Otome Heroine's Fight for Survival anime sets a July 2027 premiere
Fuka Izumi will play Alicia in the adaptation of Biyori Harunohi's light novels, directed by Noriyoshi Sasaki at Studio Clutch and Animation Studio Seven.

The television anime of Biyori Harunohi's light novel series The Otome Heroine's Fight for Survival will premiere in July 2027, with Fuka Izumi voicing the lead, Alicia, the show's official website announced on 6 October.
The same announcement carried the main staff, a teaser visual and an English-subtitled teaser trailer.
Who is making it
Noriyoshi Sasaki directs at Studio Clutch and Animation Studio Seven. Toko Machida writes the series scripts, Hiroyuki Miseki designs the characters, and Kohta Yamamoto, Shun Narita and Yuki Furuhashi share composing duties.
An otome heroine who refuses the script
Harunohi's story began on the novel-sharing site Shosetsuka ni Naro in March 2019, and TO Books began publishing it in print in April 2021 with illustrations by Yu Hitaki. Kobato Wakasa's manga adaptation followed later that year on Comic Corona. J-Novel Club publishes the novels and the manga in English.
Alicia loses her parents to a monster attack, spends three years in an orphanage and then runs away, only to be attacked by a stranger. Contact with a crystal during the struggle floods her with knowledge, including the fact that she was written to be the heroine of an otome game. She rejects the part and sets out to become strong enough to survive without it.
Our opinion
Otome-game stories usually take their comedy from a heroine who has read the script and plays the romance routes to her advantage. This one takes the same idea and drains the fun out of it, which is the point: Alicia's foreknowledge buys her nothing socially, only a head start on staying alive, and the campaign has led with a girl in a blood-red cloak holding a blade rather than a lineup of suitors. Putting Studio Clutch and Animation Studio Seven on a dark fantasy also signals that the production expects to be judged on fight choreography rather than on comedy timing, the reverse of what this genre normally demands. If it lands, the template is a good deal more durable than the villainess boom that came before it.
