Pokémon Horizons episode 154 deepens the Calamity Pokémon mystery

Pokémon Horizons (ポケットモンスター) is heading into episode 154 with its heroes still trying to understand the four Calamity Pokémon causing trouble in the Paldea region. A preview synopsis and advance stills have been released ahead of its Japanese broadcast on 23 October. ¹

The episode, titled “The Calamity of Paldea — Charge”, follows Liko and the Rising Volt Tacklers after they were unable to stop the Calamity Pokémon. According to the preview, the group hears a legend from Rehbor suggesting that the four Pokémon were born from a “curse of treasure”. That gives the next episode a clearer mystery to pursue, rather than treating the creatures’ aggression as a simple monster-of-the-week threat. ¹

The preview also says the four Pokémon are heading towards Table City, where Orange Academy is located. That puts the academy festival in danger and gives the episode a more immediate setting: the team is not merely investigating an old story, but trying to prevent the creatures from reaching a crowded public event. The synopsis does not reveal whether the heroes will resolve the mystery, contain the Pokémon or discover that the legend is incomplete.

This continues the Wonder Voyage arc, which follows Liko and her friends as they work out what they want from their next journey. The arc has also been framed around the Rising Volt Tacklers preparing for another departure, so the Calamity Pokémon plot is doing double duty: it supplies the week’s threat while pushing the wider cast towards its next change of direction. ¹

The official Pokémon channel’s Season 4 trailer provides broader promotional context for the current run, although it is not an episode-154 preview. Its imagery confirms that Pokémon Horizons remains centred on a new travelling adventure rather than a return to the original series’ Ash-led format. ²

The useful hook here is not simply that another episode synopsis has arrived. The Calamity Pokémon are being given a piece of history, a destination and a reason to collide with the protagonists’ current plans. That is a stronger promise than another unexplained attack, even if the preview wisely keeps the actual answer out of reach. The best outcome would be for episode 154 to make the legend feel like a clue with consequences, not a convenient explanation that disappears once the action starts.
