Pokémon Polaroid cameras sell out as more releases are teased
CBR reports that Pokémon’s Pikachu and Sylveon Polaroid cameras sold out quickly, while official details leave the door open to more releases.
Pokémon’s 30th-anniversary merchandise push has produced an early sell-out, with a new report saying the Pikachu and Sylveon Polaroid cameras disappeared from many shops within a day. CBR says a Pokémon Company representative indicated that more releases and reproductions remain possible because the products are labelled “Special Edition”, rather than “Limited Edition”.1
The collaboration covers cameras, film and accessories. Polaroid’s official announcement lists a Pokémon Edition Now Generation 3 camera, Pikachu and Sylveon versions of the Go Generation 3, and several film and accessory designs.2 The official Polaroid shop currently marks several camera products as out of stock, while some film and accessories remain listed.3
What the Pokémon Polaroid collection includes
The range turns Polaroid’s instant cameras into Pokémon merchandise. The Pikachu and Sylveon Go cameras are priced at $99.99 in the United States, while the Pokémon Edition Now Generation 3 costs $139.99. Matching film packs, cases, a camera strap and photo albums complete the collection.23
Polaroid’s newsroom describes the launch as its largest Pokémon collaboration so far, with nine special-edition pieces created for the franchise’s 30th anniversary. The official campaign image used here shows the yellow Pikachu edition Go camera in a lifestyle setting.2
More releases have not been dated
The possibility of further stock or new designs is not a confirmed release schedule. CBR’s report says the Pokémon Company representative left the door open to additional iterations and reproductions, but no date has been announced for either.1 That distinction matters: fans can reasonably expect the collaboration to continue, but cannot yet plan around a specific restock.
The official Polaroid product page confirms that the collection is available through Polaroid’s shop, although availability varies by item and territory.3 Buyers should check the current product listing rather than assume that every camera or film pack is still in stock.
Our opinion
The sell-out is a useful sign of how strongly Pokémon’s anniversary is pulling collectors towards hardware, not just games and cards. But the most valuable detail is the wording around future stock. “Special Edition” leaves room for a return, yet it is not a promise. Until Polaroid or Pokémon publishes a date, treat more cameras as possible rather than scheduled.
