The earlier Rascal Does Not Dream anime are heading to two Japanese streaming services ahead of the franchise's next film, with the television series and the films scheduled across TVer and ABEMA.

What is streaming, and when

Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai will be on TVer from 3 to 9 October, followed by Rascal Does Not Dream of Santa Claus from 10 to 16 October, with every episode available inside each window. ABEMA will run a marathon on its romantic-comedy anime channel: the first series in full, the three films - Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dreaming Girl, Rascal Does Not Dream of a Sister Outing and Rascal Does Not Dream of a Knapsack Kid - and then Santa Claus, with the whole block repeating the following day. The ABEMA run is free to watch for two weeks.

The film arrives on 16 October

The streaming is timed to the Japanese cinema release of Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dear Friend on 16 October 2026. The franchise adapts Hajime Kamoshida's light novel series, published by KADOKAWA.

Our opinion

A catch-up window before a new film is the oldest trick in the anime release calendar, and it works better here than it does for most franchises, because Rascal Does Not Dream is built on callbacks: the new film's title implies a reunion with characters the audience is supposed to already miss. Putting the whole run in front of viewers, free, for a fortnight is a cheap way to manufacture that familiarity, and the split between the two services is quietly clever - TVer's windows run to the film's own fortnight, while ABEMA stacks everything into a single weekend. A marathon is not the same as an audience, and these films carry an emotional weight a background stream can blunt. All the same, two free weeks is a fair trade for attention.
