Romelia War Chronicle sets 3 October anime debut

Romelia War Chronicle is putting its opening and ending songs front and centre, while confirming a 3 October debut in Japan. The new promotional video gives the fantasy anime a clearer musical identity — and finally puts a firm date on the calendar.

According to Anime News Network, the trailer previews Chogakusei’s opening theme “Akatsuki ni Naru” (“Daybreak Resounds”) and KOHTA YAMAMOTO’s ending theme “Nightfall feat. Maika Loubté”. It also confirms that the series will begin streaming in Japan on U-NEXT, Anime Times and Netflix at 9 p.m. on 3 October.

What has been announced

The television anime will then begin its Japanese broadcast on 5 October at 11:30 p.m. on Tokyo MX, BS11 and Sun TV, followed later that evening by KBS Kyoto. The production is planned to run for two cours, giving the adaptation a decent amount of room to develop its military fantasy rather than speedrun the premise.

The new video also arrives with a fresh visual and a sizeable supporting cast. Yuna Nemoto voices Romelia von Graham, with Jin Ogasawara as Al, Tomohiro Ōno as Ray and Yūya Hirose as Henri Lleus Lionel. The additional cast includes Hiromichi Tezuka, Tomohiro Yamaguchi, Ryūichi Hirose, Kenta Hosoda, Tasuku Kaito, Rikuya Yasuda, Hiroki Matsukawa, Taiki Yamashita, Sōhei Horikane, Naoki Sakurai, Mizuki Ishii, Hayato Kimura, Shuntaro Hara and Hiromu Mineta.

A fantasy with room to breathe

The story follows Romelia after she is rejected as “useless” by the prince whose quest she helped complete. She returns home and uses the skills she built outside combat — trade, negotiation, finance and intelligence-gathering — to form an army of her own while the Demon King’s allies remain a threat. That setup needs more than a quick cour to make its political and military stakes land.

Hiroshi Shirai directs at Atra, with Takahiro Hirata as assistant director. Aya Satsuki handles series composition and screenplay, Yoshiko Saitō and Yūta Ōtaka handle character design, and KOHTA YAMAMOTO provides the music. Crunchyroll has also announced streaming for international viewers, though availability remains subject to local licensing.

Our opinion

The two-cour order is the best news here. Romelia War Chronicle is built around a heroine who wins through organisation rather than magical fireworks, so it needs time to make the kingdom, its army and its grudges feel properly lived-in. The songs and new trailer give it a stronger first impression, but the real test will be whether the adaptation lets Romelia’s strategy do the heavy lifting. Keep it on the autumn watchlist — this could be a smart underdog, provided it does not mistake a large cast for actual depth.
