Tougen Anki gets an English dub for the Nikko Kegon Falls arc

Tougen Anki’s Nikko Kegon Falls Arc has begun streaming in English on Crunchyroll, starting with its first two dubbed episodes.

Tougen Anki: Nikko Kegon Falls Arc has begun streaming its English dub on Crunchyroll, with the first two episodes now available in the new-language version. The announcement comes as the anime moves into its latest story arc, which follows Shiki Ichinose and the students of Rasetsu Academy to Nikko.

The English dub announcement does not name the dub cast. Crunchyroll’s release covers the first two episodes of the arc, while the wider series is also available through several streaming services outside Japan. The English version gives viewers another way into an arc that shifts the action from the students’ earlier battles towards the mystery surrounding Kegon Falls and a research facility built where the waterfall stopped flowing.1

The anime’s premise centres on a long-running conflict between Oni and Momotaro. Shiki’s group are trained at Rasetsu Academy, but the new arc puts that education under pressure when Yaoroshi is drawn towards a more extreme interpretation of the Oni Brigade’s cause. Shiki follows him after learning that the group’s campaign threatens non-combatants as well as its enemies.

The Tougen Anki television anime is based on Yura Urushibara’s manga and is directed by Ato Nonaka at Studio Hibari. Hiroyuki Hashimoto is assistant director, while Yukie Sugawara handles series composition and script supervision. The cast and production staff continue into the Nikko Kegon Falls storyline, which began its television run on 2 October.2

The first two English-dubbed episodes are the immediate news, rather than a promise that the entire arc has been dubbed at once. Crunchyroll’s release therefore gives English-speaking viewers a clear starting point while leaving the timing of later dubbed episodes to the platform.

Our opinion

This is a useful streaming update because it tells viewers exactly what has changed: the new arc’s first two episodes can now be watched in English on Crunchyroll. The lack of a newly announced cast list makes the release less substantial than a full dub-cast reveal, but the timing still matters for viewers who had been waiting for an English track rather than subtitles. It is a straightforward expansion of access, not a new story beat, and that is the right way to read it.

The arc itself has a strong hook in the stalled waterfall and hidden research facility, so the dub launch arrives at a sensible point for viewers deciding whether to catch up. Those starting now should expect the English version to roll out from the opening two episodes rather than assume every episode is available dubbed immediately.
