French studio Ankama has started streaming a new trailer for Aoki Denshō Welsh & Shedar (The Azure Legend: Welsh & Shedar), with the video confirming a free worldwide YouTube rollout for the original anime. The series will begin streaming on Ankama’s Krosmoz channel on 5 November, with English, Japanese and French dubs and subtitles in English, French, Spanish and Portuguese.1

The first episode is scheduled for 5 November, followed by the second on 6 November. New episodes will then arrive weekly on the channel, giving viewers outside Japan a straightforward way to follow the series without waiting for a later home-video or regional streaming announcement.1

What the announcement confirms

The trailer is from Ankama, the French entertainment company behind the series, and the Krosmoz YouTube channel is the official home named in the announcement. The trailer itself is embedded below so readers can see the announcement and judge the show’s visual direction for themselves.1

The English and French dub casts include Daniel J. McLean and Sacha Tomassian as Welsh, Kevin Garcia and Tom Trouffier as Shedar, and Marissa Lenti and Frédérique Tirmont as Zabelle. Other named cast members include Elgin David Aponte, Risa Kageyama and Kyle Phillips in the English version, alongside their French counterparts.1

The anime follows Welsh, a country boy, and Shedar, a prince destined to become a king. Although the pair come from very different backgrounds, their paths cross as they attempt to stop a tyrant’s plan to conquer the world.1 Naoki Horiuchi directs at Studio Massket, with Saori Nakashiki handling character designs and serving as one of the chief animation directors.1

Why it matters

The important part here is not just another trailer: Ankama is attaching a clear international distribution plan to it. Free worldwide access, multiple dubs and a predictable weekly schedule remove the usual uncertainty around where a new anime can be watched. The plan also fits Ankama’s wider Krosmoz strategy, using the company’s existing YouTube presence as a direct route to viewers.1

The series has already premiered in Japan on Tokyo MX, but the YouTube launch gives international audiences a separate, officially announced path. That distinction matters because the announcement names the countries and languages covered by the release rather than leaving viewers to infer availability from a trailer alone.1

Our opinion

This is the sort of anime rollout that is easy to understand and easy to follow. Ankama is not asking viewers to hunt through an unclear platform list: the official channel, launch date, languages and weekly cadence are all stated up front. The real test will be whether the show can turn that unusually accessible launch into sustained interest, but the distribution plan gives Welsh & Shedar a much cleaner opening than a vague “coming soon” trailer would have done.

The official trailer’s bright fantasy imagery and its prominent character close-up also make the series’ tone immediately legible. It is promotional artwork rather than a neutral news photograph, but it directly depicts the announced anime and comes from the studio’s own channel, making it an appropriate hero for this story.
