33 Years Old Single Girl Knight Captain manga gets anime
Amahara's adult fantasy comedy gets an anime adaptation, announced with a colourful official music video but no release date yet.
Digital Shokunin has announced an anime adaptation of Amahara's 33 Years Old Single Girl Knight Captain (33歳独身女騎士隊長), a fantasy comedy about Mail, a 33-year-old knight captain whose exhausting work leaves little room for anything resembling a social life.1
The announcement arrived alongside an official music video, rather than a conventional trailer. The video, titled Boogieing Dance Knights, features vocals by Sekka, with music composed and arranged by Suzumi. It gives the adaptation a deliberately loud, pop-art introduction: bright pink and blue graphics, manga-style character art and a knowingly chaotic tone.2
The manga follows Mail and fellow knights dealing with exploitative working conditions, drinking and adult frustrations in a fantasy setting. That premise puts the series firmly in the sex-comedy lane, although the announcement provides no broadcast date, cast list or staff details beyond the music-video credits.12
Amahara launched the manga in KATTS' online adult manga magazine Ananga Ranga in October 2015. Flex Comics published its fourth collected volume in January, while the series continues irregularly, often in very short chapters.1
The project also connects with Amahara's better-known work. The creator's Interspecies Reviewers manga received a television anime in 2020, but the adaptation was removed from several streaming services after distributors judged its content outside their standards.1 That history makes the new project's eventual platform and content rating details worth watching.
Our opinion
The music video is a smart first signal for a series that would be difficult to sell through a bland announcement alone. It establishes the adaptation's comic-book energy and confirms that Digital Shokunin is willing to foreground the source material's adult humour. The missing broadcast details are significant, though: until the production names a staff, cast or release window, this is an announcement to track rather than a near-term anime recommendation.
