Black Clover Season 2 Episode 3 preview sets up devil assault
Black Clover Season 2 Episode 3 sets up underworld devils, a giant demon and the Dark Triad’s full power ahead of its 17 October premiere.
Black Clover Season 2 has revealed preview images and a synopsis for Episode 3, which is scheduled to premiere on 17 October 2026. The episode is set to bring the Spade Kingdom conflict to a head as devils break through the underworld’s gates. 1 2
Asta faces a new crisis
The Resistance Army, led by Albert, and the Magic Knights of the Clover Kingdom fight to protect the Spade Kingdom’s citizens from low-ranking devils. A giant demon also appears in the Clover Kingdom while its Magic Knight Captains are away, leaving Asta to answer the crisis with the Anti-Magic power of Devil Union. 1
The episode synopsis says the Dark Triad’s devil power reaches 100% as these battles unfold. That gives Episode 3 a clear escalation point, rather than treating the preview as another routine clash. 1
What to expect from Episode 3
The episode is listed as Episode 173 overall and follows the season’s 3 October return. The main staff includes director Ayataka Tanemura, series composer Keiichiro Ochi and character designer Itsuko Takeda, with Studio Pierrot handling animation production. 1
The opening song, “Kienai Riyuu” (The Reason That Won’t Disappear), is performed by WANIMA. Crunchyroll is streaming the season worldwide, according to the report, while the official Black Clover account is credited for the episode information. 1 2
Our opinion
A preview built around the underworld gates, a giant demon and the Dark Triad’s full power knows exactly what it is selling: escalation. The useful detail here is that the episode is not only teasing a bigger fight for Asta; it is splitting the danger between the Spade Kingdom and the Clover Kingdom, which gives the coming episode a wider sense of panic. 1
