Charisma anime reveals its main visual and full staff

The TV anime adaptation of the Charisma project has unveiled its main visual and the full production lineup ahead of a January 2027 debut on TBS.

The main visual for the Charisma anime: seven young men fill a shared living room, one juggling a stack of plates, another asleep mid-drawing on the floor, the rest sprawled across a blue sofa and two armchairs

The television anime version of the Charisma project has published its main visual and named the rest of its production team, with both revealed during a fifth-anniversary livestream on 4 October 2026.

Seven charismas in one house

The project began in 2021 as a joint effort between the record label Evil Line Records and the intellectual property company Dazed, and it is built around seven men who each embody a charisma in the older sense of a divinely gifted trait. They share a house while chasing their own ambitions, which is roughly all you need to know before the anime arrives.

The cast carries over from the music and stage side of the project: Yuki Ono as Fumiya Ito, Masahiro Yamanaka as Rikai Kusanagi, Katsumi Fukuhara as Iori Motohashi, Kenta Hosoda as Kei Sarukawa, Saku Hyuga as Ohse Minato, Genki Okawa as Terra and Tomohisa Hashizume as Amahiko Tendo.

Who is making it

Joji Furuta directs at Pierrot Films, with original creator Shu Matsubara overseeing and writing the series scripts. Haru Watanabe is the character designer and shares chief animation director duties with HAN SEUNGAH. Seiki Tamura is the art director, Yukiko Kakita the colour key artist, Toru Fukushi the director of photography and Kumiko Sakamoto the editor. Gesshoku Kaigi handles the music, Kyoko Wada and Shu Matsubara are the sound directors, Rakuonsha is on sound production, and Kotaro Sudo, Soichiro Hirano and Yoshihiro Tominaga produce. Ebimo is credited with the original character designs and TBS Television is the production manager.

Four more anniversary announcements

The same livestream carried four other items. A fan vote called Charismania Word runs from 4 to 12 October, with the result due at the Charismania event on 1 November. From 21:00 JST on 4 October until noon on 1 November the project's YouTube channel is running a non-stop marathon of its voice dramas and music videos, with viewer chat shown on screen. An anniversary cafe opens in Ikebukuro from 14 November to 13 December, with character-themed food and drink and merchandise restricted to visitors. And the seven voice actors will appear at Anime Girls Festival 2026 on 8 November for the first time in about five years, headlining a stage that closes the day and sharing the bill with a collaboration for I.ADORE, the third character project from Dazed and Evil Line Records.

Our opinion

Five years of concerts, manga and stage plays have given Charisma something most anime adaptations have to build from nothing: an audience that already knows how these seven talk to each other. That is the real asset here, and it also explains the shape of this announcement. There is no trailer, no air date beyond the month and no studio showreel, so the main visual is doing the work a promo video normally does, and it is pitching a sitcom rather than a spectacle. Everyone is indoors, mid-argument or mid-snack, on a sofa that looks lived on. For a property whose entire conceit is divine gifts, the artwork is deliberately mundane, and the risk is that a slice-of-life frame makes a show look slight before it has aired a second. The bet seems to be that the fandom is loud enough to carry that on its own.
