Charisma anime sets January 2027 TV premiere and November shorts

Charisma's short anime begins in November, with the main TV series following across Japan in January 2027.

Charisma (カリスマ) is getting two anime launches rather than one. A short-form series begins inside TBS's Yoru no Brunch on 4 November 2026, while the main TV anime starts its Japanese broadcast on 7 January 2027. Both announcements come from the official Charisma House website. 1

The short anime will air every Wednesday at 11:56 p.m. on TBS's Yoru no Brunch. It is positioned as a lead-in to the full series, giving viewers an early look at the characters and the show's deliberately chaotic shared-house setup before the main broadcast arrives in the new year. The first episode is scheduled for 4 November.

The main Charisma TV anime begins on Thursday, 7 January 2027, at 11:56 p.m. It will air simultaneously across TBS-affiliated 28 stations in Japan. The announcement confirms the Japanese broadcast arrangement, but it does not announce an international streaming service, overseas licensing deal or availability outside Japan. Those details should not be assumed from the domestic television date.

The series follows seven residents living together in a house while each person embodies a different kind of charisma. The official cast announcement names Yūki Ono as Fumiya Itō, Masahiro Yamanaka as Rikai Kusanagi, Katsumi Fukuhara as Iori Motohashi, Kenta Hosoda as Kei Sarukawa, Saku Hyūga as Ohse Minato, Genki Okawa as Terra, Tomohisa Hashizume as Amahiko Tendō, Shinnosuke Tachibana as Sōemon Nakakami and Tomohiro Ōno as Shū Torahime.

The production is based on the original work by Dazed Co., Ltd. and Shū Matsubara, with original character designs by Ebimo. Jōji Furuta directs, Matsubara handles series composition and scripts, and Haru Watanabe leads character design. Pierrot Films is producing the animation, with TBS Television as production manager. The announced music comes from Gesshoku Kaigi.

The official announcement also links a special video, a teaser visual reveal and a teaser promotional video. That gives prospective viewers a first chance to see how the series is translating its unusual ensemble into animation, although the broadcaster's late-night slot suggests the show will remain aimed at a Japanese audience first. 1

Our opinion

The two-stage launch is a smart way to introduce Charisma. A short series can establish the group's personalities without asking new viewers to commit immediately to a full season, while the January broadcast gives the main production a clearer event around which to build attention. The important caveat is availability: with no international distribution announced, viewers outside Japan will need to wait for confirmed licensing news rather than treating the Japanese premiere as a global release.

For now, the useful dates are straightforward: the short anime begins on 4 November 2026, and the main TV series follows on 7 January 2027. The official page has supplied the broadcast details, cast and staff, but international release information remains to be confirmed.
