Code Geass Star Chaser Aspal reveals cast before January 2027 previews
The new Code Geass anime has named its principal cast and staff, with advance screenings planned across five Japanese cities in January 2027.
The official Code Geass Star Chaser Aspal website has revealed the anime’s principal cast, expanded staff list and a run of advance preview screenings planned for January 2027. The announcement gives the new project a clearer shape ahead of its wider 2027 release, although a general launch date and territory-by-territory rollout have not been confirmed.
The series is set in Divine Era 606 and centres on Aspal and Zoé. The official site credits SUNRISE with the original work and planning, with the original story credited to Ichiro Okouchi and Goro Taniguchi. Kazuya Nomura is directing, Mado Nozaki is handling series composition, Rolua is responsible for character design and Yoshi. is credited with Agalmata design.
The newly listed cast includes Ivan Shibata as Aspal and Hibiku Yamamura as Zoé. The site’s newly presented visual expands the project beyond its initial announcement, showing the central characters alongside a wider science-fiction setting and its distinctive mechanical designs.
January previews before the wider release
The advance screenings are scheduled to take place in five major Japanese cities in January 2027. They will precede a limited event-screening run for the general public later in the year. The official information confirms a 2027 premiere window, but it does not yet provide an exact date for the wider release or details of an international distribution plan.
That distinction matters for viewers outside Japan. The January screenings are not a confirmation that the anime will be available globally at the same time, and the event-screening format suggests that more information will be needed before overseas fans can plan around a standard theatrical or streaming launch.
What the new details tell us
This is a meaningful expansion of the project rather than a new release-date announcement. The cast, staff and preview plans establish who is making the series and how Bandai Namco Filmworks and SUNRISE intend to introduce it, while the 2027 window remains deliberately broad.
Our opinion
The combination of a named cast, a substantial staff list and real preview screenings makes Code Geass Star Chaser Aspal feel considerably more tangible than a project announced only with a title and a year. The five-city preview plan is especially useful because it points to a staged introduction rather than a vague promise that the anime is still in development. The missing general-release date is not a problem yet, but international viewers should treat the January 2027 screenings as a Japan-first milestone, not a global launch guarantee.
