Cosmic Princess Kaguya adds fifth cinema bonus from 16 October

The bonus

Cosmic Princess Kaguya! (超かぐや姫！) will get a fifth cinema giveaway from 16 October, with the new reward running until 22 October while stocks last. Each visitor to a participating screening can receive one random A6 postcard featuring artwork from the official “ray 超かぐや姫！Version” music video. ¹

The set uses six illustrations from a total of 12, showing Kaguya and Iroha during the time they spend together. The postcards are random, cannot be exchanged and are not for resale. The promotion also applies to the film’s 4DX, SCREENX and ULTRA 4DX screenings, although individual cinemas may run out early. ¹

The film’s return

The bonus is part of the film’s ongoing Japanese revival screenings, which began on 18 September in standard and special formats. The latest report says the revival had passed ¥600 million in box office, taking the film’s cumulative total beyond ¥3.3 billion. ¹

The giveaway artwork comes from the official ending-theme video, which is directed by Shingo Yamashita and includes material not shown in the main film, including childhood scenes and a later epilogue. Our opinion

This is a properly targeted cinema bonus rather than a token repeat of the poster campaign: it turns one of the film’s most visible pieces of music-video artwork into something fans can actually collect. The random format will frustrate anyone chasing a favourite image, but the limited run and six-card selection give the revival a useful extra reason to catch Cosmic Princess Kaguya! on the big screen. ^{1 2}
