Detective Precure Happy Set brings six mystery-themed toys to Japan
McDonald’s Japan will release six Detective Precure-themed Happy Set toys across three waves from 13 November.
The next Japanese McDonald’s Happy Set promotion will bring six Detective Precure-themed toys to restaurants from 13 November, with the range split across three release waves. The toys are based on the detective and transformation gadgets used by Detective Precure! (名探偵プリキュア!), the 23rd entry in the long-running Precure franchise. 1
The first wave runs from 13 to 19 November and includes a mirror-and-comb toy modelled on the purification item used by Cure Answer and Cure Mystic, a badge case inspired by Cure Eclair’s transformation perfume, and a voice-memo-style keyring. The mirror toy comes with character cards and a mirror-style card; moving the card changes the picture visible through the lens. 1
The second wave starts on 20 November and adds a jewel Cure watch with transformation cards, a small case and pen based on the Precure book, and a rotating Precure gloss toy. The watch can be used for pretend transformation play, while the book-themed case is designed to hold small belongings. The third wave begins on 27 November and repeats toys from the first two waves, subject to stock. 1
McDonald’s says the toys are intended to let children play with the series’ detective and transformation motifs in everyday settings. The company’s official campaign pages also advertise two separate X reply competitions around the Happy Set, each offering 50 winners a 1,000-yen McDonald’s card featuring Detective Precure! 23
The promotion is currently announced for Japan, and the available source material does not indicate an international release. Families should also note that the third-wave selection is random and that replacement toys may be offered if stock runs out. 1
Our opinion
This is a more coherent tie-in than a simple character sticker giveaway. The six toys translate the show’s props into things children can actually use: a comb, mirror, watch, case and keyring. That makes the promotion feel closely connected to Detective Precure! rather than merely borrowing its logo. The staggered waves also give the range a clear collecting hook, although the random third wave means anyone chasing one specific toy will need a little luck. The campaign is worth watching for Japanese fans, but it remains a Japan-only announcement for now.
