Pokemon Card Game expansion packs will rise to ¥230 in May 2027

Some new Pokemon Card Game expansion packs will rise from ¥200 to ¥230 from May 2027, following another increase this year.

Pokemon Card Game expansion packs will cost more from May 2027, with the standard five-card pack rising from ¥200 to ¥230 including tax. The change applies to some new products released from May onwards, according to the Pokemon Card Game’s official announcement.1

The company says the increase reflects higher raw-material costs. It also warns that some expansion packs may carry different prices, while other product lines will be priced individually.1

This is the second price rise in a year. Expansion packs moved from ¥180 to ¥200 for products released from May 2026, meaning the standard price will have increased by ¥50, or roughly 28%, across the two changes.12

The announcement does not say that every existing product will immediately change price, nor does it apply a single new price to every Pokemon Card Game product. The exact price of each future release remains dependent on the product details published for that set.

Our opinion

A ¥30 increase on a single expansion pack may look modest, but the effect will be noticeable for players who buy several packs at a time. The important distinction is that this is a forward-looking change for some new products, not a blanket instruction to reprice every pack already on shelves. Buyers should check the official product listing before assuming a particular set will cost ¥230.

The move also makes sealed-product spending harder to predict. Collectors and players can still budget around individual release announcements, but the old ¥200 baseline is no longer a reliable shortcut for future expansion packs.
