Evangelion MA-1 returns after selling out

The RADIO EVA and AVIREX flight jacket returns in EVA-01, EVA-02 and Mark.06 colourways, with limited quantities opening on 16 October.

Black Evangelion MA-1 jacket inspired by EVA-01, from the official RADIO EVA and AVIREX collaboration

The sold-out Evangelion MA-1 collaboration from RADIO EVA and AVIREX is returning for another production run, giving fans a fresh chance to order the flight jacket before stock disappears again. The additional run opens at 11am on 16 October through the RADIO EVA Online Store and AVIREX’s official online shop, with limited quantities in each colour and size.12

The jacket is built around AVIREX’s MA-1 REMODEL MARK II. RADIO EVA’s design team has reworked it around three Evangelion units: black takes its cues from EVA-01, red from EVA-02 and navy from Mark.06. The black EVA-01 version shown in the official product photography uses a black body with purple hood detailing, unit-inspired markings and a military-style stencil finish.1

What the collaboration includes

The hood can be removed, while the lining, reflective tape and colour details are matched to the machine that inspired each version. The official product description also calls out a cowhide hood patch, detachable hood construction and a mixture of rescue-style details with Evangelion’s visual language.1 That makes this more than a logo slapped on a standard bomber: the three colourways are intended to echo specific units while keeping the practical MA-1 silhouette intact.

The collaboration sits within RADIO EVA’s “THE 30” line, a project marking the franchise’s 30th anniversary. The official announcement lists the black EVA-01, red EVA-02 and navy Mark.06 models, while the product listing identifies the jacket as an AVIREX partnership item.12 The listing also gives a price of ¥77,000 and currently shows a planned delivery window of early February 2027 for the black version.1

The timing matters because the first run sold through quickly. This is an additional production run rather than a new redesign, so prospective buyers should check the official store for the colour and size they want instead of assuming every option will remain available. The announcement says quantities are limited, and the official listing shows multiple sizes rather than a one-size collector release.12

Our opinion

This is the kind of franchise fashion collaboration that works because the design does not stop at a chest logo. The EVA-01 version has a recognisable purple-and-black palette, unit markings and enough technical detailing to look like a deliberate flight-jacket reinterpretation. The ¥77,000 price is firmly collector territory, but the construction and unit-specific approach give it a clearer identity than a generic branded jacket. If the first run passed you by, the extra production is a genuine second chance — just not a promise that stock will last.
