Howl's Moving Castle cardigan returns to Ghibli's official store
Donguri Sora has restocked its cosy Howl's Moving Castle cardigan, complete with an argyle pattern and Magic Colour Dial buttons.
Studio Ghibli’s official Donguri Sora store has restocked a cardigan inspired by Howl’s cape in Howl’s Moving Castle (ハウルの動く城). The pink-and-blue argyle loungewear is listed as a limited restock, with a price of 11,000 yen including tax.1
What the restock includes
The cardigan is designed to echo the colours and broad pattern of the cape worn by Howl when Sophie first meets him in the film. Donguri Sora’s product description says the item uses a thick, fluffy polyester fabric, with a relaxed fit intended for wearing at home as well as over everyday clothes. Its buttons are shaped after the Magic Colour Dial, the colourful portal device seen in Howl’s castle.1
The official listing gives the garment a bust measurement of approximately 79–94 centimetres and a 100 per cent polyester composition. It also carries a 640-gram product weight and a product code of 00048414. Donguri Sora lists the current sales period as starting on October 10, 2026, although stock is not guaranteed to remain available after the restock.1
CBR reports that the cardigan originally launched in 2020 as part of Donguri Closet’s winter collection and has returned during autumn and winter periods because of continuing demand.2 The same report notes that a matching shawl and a Howl-inspired mug have also returned to the official Ghibli shop, placing this item within a broader seasonal merchandise push rather than presenting it as a new film release.
A wearable Howl reference
The design is a fairly direct translation of Howl’s costume into practical loungewear: the colours and diamond pattern do the recognition work, while the soft construction and loose fit move it away from cosplay and towards everyday clothing. That makes the Magic Colour Dial buttons the most playful detail, since they reward close inspection without making the whole garment look like a costume.
The product is sold through Donguri Closet, the Studio Ghibli goods label aimed at adult fans. The official store describes the collection as a way to bring Ghibli-inspired roomwear into a more relaxed home routine, rather than as screen-accurate clothing.1
Our opinion
This is the sort of Ghibli merchandise that works because it understands the reference without shouting it. The cardigan keeps Howl’s palette and pattern, but the soft shape makes it plausible as something fans could actually wear. Just remember that the 11,000-yen listing is a Japanese-store price, and availability can change quickly when a restock is built around a perennial favourite.
