Gundam SEED Freedom fashion line launches with STRICT-G RUNWAY

STRICT-G’s new RUNWAY collection brings character-inspired Gundam SEED Freedom clothing to Premium Bandai and Japanese pop-up shops from 30 October.

STRICT-G is turning Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Freedom into a full autumn fashion collection, with character-led clothing and accessories arriving through its new RUNWAY project. The first 2026 autumn/winter range centres on Kira Yamato, Athrun Zala, Lacus Clyne and Cagalli Yula Athha, using official new artwork and everyday styling rather than simply printing a logo on standard merchandise. 1

The collection includes jackets, tops, denim, shoes, bags and smaller fashion accessories. The official STRICT-G catalogue lists items including character-themed fleece and boa jackets, recycled-down outerwear, T-shirts, tote bags, shoulder bags and scarves. The Athrun Zala boa jacket pictured here is priced at ¥19,800 and is scheduled for release on 14 November in Japan. 2

Where to buy

Premium Bandai is scheduled to open reservations for the STRICT-G RUNWAY 2026AW range at 1pm JST on 30 October. General sales are due to begin from 31 October at selected STRICT-G shops and HiKESHi SPiRiT locations, although some items have later release dates. The collection is also tied to a HiKESHi SPiRiT pop-up in Asakusa, running from 31 October to 30 November, with selected products launching on 14 November. 12

The collaboration goes beyond clothing. The HiKESHi SPiRiT pop-up is set to carry joint STRICT-G JAPAN products, including T-shirts, a samue-style jacket, a lantern-inspired stand and jewellery. A themed café is also planned for the HiKESHi SPiRiT Ongumi venue, with its menu, opening hours and booking details still to be announced. 1

The project’s strongest idea is its focus on the characters’ off-duty wardrobes. That gives the range a clearer identity than a conventional tie-in collection: the clothes are designed to suggest Kira, Athrun, Lacus and Cagalli through colour, badges, silhouettes and styling, rather than requiring every item to display an obvious mobile suit graphic. The official product pages also make the collaboration feel more like a proper seasonal fashion drop, with different materials and release dates across the line.

Our opinion

This is a more convincing approach to anime fashion merchandise than a single novelty T-shirt, particularly because the collection has a recognisable visual brief and a spread of prices. The character connection is still explicit, but the everyday pieces appear designed to work as clothing first. The main caveat is availability: the launch is split between online reservations, physical shops and later product dates, so fans will need to check the individual Premium Bandai or STRICT-G listing rather than assume every item arrives together. The collection launches in Japan, and no international release details are included in the source material.

The range therefore looks worth watching for Gundam SEED Freedom fans who want character-inspired clothing rather than display-only collectibles. Just keep the dates separate: reservations begin on 30 October, the broader shop pop-up starts on 31 October, and at least some of the headline outerwear follows on 14 November.
