Hanarabeez short anime launches with three episodes from Ribon
Ribon and DLE have launched Hanarabeez as a three-episode short anime, with episode 1 streaming now and two more releases scheduled for November.
Hanarabeez has arrived as a new short anime from Ribon and DLE, turning Yukari Kaneko's original character series into a three-episode run. The first episode is now streaming on Ribon's official YouTube channel, giving viewers a gentle introduction to the tooth-themed cast and its deliberately laid-back sense of humour.1
The announcement positions Hanarabeez as a slice-of-life series about characters who are all teeth. That premise is wonderfully odd, but the first episode keeps the presentation simple: a rounded white character wanders through a soft, pastel-coloured world while the short focuses on everyday play rather than a larger adventure plot.1
The remaining schedule is already set. Episode 2 is due on 9 November, followed by episode 3 on 24 November, with both releases scheduled for noon in Japan. That makes this a compact commitment rather than an open-ended weekly series, and means the full adaptation should be available before the end of November.1
The cast includes Hana Satō and Yūki Urushiyama, with Eagle Talon creator FROGMAN also performing a voice role. Benpineko directs at DLE, while Mamoru Suzuki serves as animation director. Those credits give the project a recognisable creative link to DLE's established comedy-animation work without making Hanarabeez feel like a spin-off of another property.1
Our opinion
Hanarabeez is a small, charming experiment rather than a major new anime franchise, and that is precisely why the three-episode format makes sense. The first episode's uncomplicated visual language suits the characters, while the fixed schedule gives the series a clear shape. If the next two shorts preserve that low-key rhythm, Ribon and DLE may have found a neat way to turn a magazine character into a genuinely watchable little web series.
