Horror Collector has revealed its English dub cast ahead of its October 24 streaming debut on Crunchyroll. The first episode’s English version includes Brandon Allan Majella as Fushigi, Larry Brantley as Jimmy and Rebecca Danae as Himitsu, alongside a wider cast announced by Crunchyroll.1

The announcement gives viewers a clearer route into the new adaptation of Midori Satō’s horror novel series, which follows strange incidents, urban legends and a boy in a red hood who appears wherever something unsettling is happening.

The English cast

The first episode’s announced cast also includes Patrick McAlister as Aoyama, Rowan Gilvie as Crimson Woman, Lexa Childress as Hiromi-Uku, Leili as Natsuna, Jonathan Lim as Raita, Jordan Chantha Weir as Rin, Chris Sanders as Sasaki, Zareen Afzaal as Yui and Jamie Lee as Yurie.1

Crunchyroll is handling the English dub production. The announced dub team includes Justin Cook and Michael Harcourt as studio producers, Samantha Herek as producer, Jarrod Greene as adaptation supervisor, Audrey Drake Rigg on adaptation and Benjamin Tehrani as voice director.1

The wider production is directed by Yuki Inaba at Studio Palette, with Kaori Yoshikawa handling character designs and Masato Kōda composing the music. The anime began airing in Japan on NHK on October 10, with Crunchyroll streaming it as the episodes release.1

What Horror Collector is about

The series adapts Satō’s novels, which turn familiar internet horror into a world where some creepypastas, cryptid sightings and disappearance stories are real. The central figure is a mysterious boy in a red hood who travels from place to place and appears around strange events. Whether he is helping people or connected to the monsters is part of the series’ mystery.1

The English dub arrives while the show is still early in its broadcast run, making the cast announcement a useful update for viewers who prefer dubbed anime. Crunchyroll’s official trailer presents the series as a darker supernatural mystery, with the red-hooded character at the centre of its visual identity.2

Horror Collector is based on the novel series’ Japanese title Kyōfu Collector (恐怖コレクター). Yen Press publishes the novels and the manga adaptation in English, giving the anime an existing readership beyond its broadcast audience.1

Our opinion

The timing makes sense: an English dub announcement on the eve of the first episode’s streaming release is exactly the kind of practical information that can turn curiosity into a new weekly watch. The cast list is large, but the useful detail is that Crunchyroll has also named the production staff behind the dub, rather than presenting a handful of voices without context.

The show’s premise gives it a recognisable hook without reducing it to another generic monster story. It treats internet folklore and urban legends as the doorway into a broader mystery, while the red-hooded wanderer gives the adaptation a clear visual centre. Whether the series can make its episodic scares build towards a satisfying larger story remains to be seen, but the English launch gives Horror Collector another chance to find an audience outside its original Japanese broadcast.
