Hunter x Hunter (HUNTER×HUNTER) is returning to the stage in January 2027 with a new production focused on the Chimera Ant arc.

The Stage 4 dates and story

The official Hunter x Hunter: The Stage 4 website confirms that the two-part adaptation will open at Tokyo's Tennozu Galaxy Theatre from Jan. 23 to Feb. 7, 2027, before moving to Kyoto Theatre from Feb. 13 to Feb. 21. The second part is planned for July and August 2027, with exact dates still to come. 1

The production will bring Gon and Killua into the Chimera Ant storyline, with returning performers Rento Nishiyama and Nichika Akutsu leading the cast. The official site also lists new performers for Morel, Knov and Knuckle, alongside Ryuji Sato as Meruem. 1

The first promotional trailer and key visual are now live on the production's official website. An English ticketing site is due to open on Nov. 2, 2026, giving overseas fans a route to attend or follow ticket information without relying on Japanese-only listings. 1

CBR reports that the production is the first of a two-part treatment of the manga's Chimera Ant arc, with the stage series expanding the franchise's live-action theatrical run rather than announcing a new anime season. 2

Why this matters

The Chimera Ant arc is one of Hunter x Hunter's biggest and most demanding stories, so a stage version has an unusually difficult balancing act: it needs to suggest a sprawling conflict while keeping the action legible in a theatre. The newly revealed cast and visual point towards a production leaning into practical performance, ensemble staging and the arc's recognisable character designs rather than trying to imitate animation literally.

It also gives the stage adaptation a useful international hook. The English ticketing announcement arrives months before the first performance, which should make the production easier for overseas fans to track even if attending Tokyo or Kyoto is not realistic.

Our opinion

This is a meaningful announcement for Hunter x Hunter fans, not a vague tease: there are fixed Tokyo and Kyoto dates, a named arc, a substantial returning and new cast, and an official trailer to show the direction. The two-part structure makes sense for a story this large, although the real test will be whether the production can make the Chimera Ant conflict feel expansive without turning the stage into a parade of disconnected character entrances. For now, the official material gives this ambitious adaptation a promising foundation.
