Isshiki-san Wants to Know About Love anime adds Enako
Enako will voice nurse Nene Haneshita and sing the opening theme for the anime adaptation, which is set to debut in Japan in January 2027.
Isshiki-san Wants to Know About Love is adding a recognisable new voice to its cast. Enako will play nurse Nene Haneshita and perform the opening theme, “Gō Yoku Koi o Seisu!?”, for the upcoming television anime. 1
The adaptation of Ayune Araragi’s romantic-comedy manga is scheduled to premiere in January 2027 on AT-X, Kansai TV and Tokyo MX. An advanced screening of the first two episodes is planned for Tokyo on December 13, although a precise January broadcast date and wider streaming plans have not been announced. 1
Enako joins the cast
Enako is best known as a cosplayer and entertainer, but this is a two-part anime role: she will voice Nene Haneshita while also singing the opening theme. The promotional material introduces Nene as a nurse, adding another character to a series built around two inexperienced leads trying to understand romance.
Isshiki-san Wants to Know About Love follows Isshiki Rinna Milford, a serious young police officer, and Meishi Rokutanda, a kind but scatterbrained detective. The pair are both newcomers to romantic relationships, and the story tracks their awkward attempts to work out what being a couple actually means. Riko Akechi voices Isshiki, while Shuichiro Umeda plays Meishi. 1
Kazuya Komai is directing the anime at Sakura Create, with Deko Akao overseeing the series scripts and Shohei Hamaguchi designing the characters. Kadokawa is handling the music production, and the new promotional video gives the production its clearest look yet at the opening theme and expanding cast.
What the announcement confirms
The January 2027 window is confirmed for Japanese television, with AT-X, Kansai TV and Tokyo MX named as the initial broadcasters. The December 13 screening will show the first two episodes early, but it should not be mistaken for the wider premiere. No exact date, international streaming partner or territory rollout has been confirmed in the announcement.
That distinction matters for a show whose English release details are still developing. Yen Press is publishing the manga in English under the title Isshiki-san Wants to Know About Love, but the anime’s international distribution has not yet been set out. For now, the useful news is the casting, the opening theme and the Japanese broadcast window rather than a promised global launch. 1
Our opinion
Adding Enako as both a cast member and opening-theme performer gives this update a little more personality than a routine cast expansion. Nene’s introduction also suggests the anime is continuing to widen its supporting ensemble before the January broadcast, which is sensible for a romantic comedy that depends on chemistry beyond its central pair.
The stronger test will be whether the production can make Isshiki and Meishi’s emotional uncertainty feel funny without flattening them into a collection of awkward reactions. The staff line-up is experienced, and the early screening should offer a useful read on the show’s tone, but the lack of an exact premiere date and international plan means this remains a Japan-focused announcement for now.
