Our Last Crusade anime gets a third season with returning cast
Our Last Crusade or the Rise of a New World returns for a third season with its main cast, director and character designer.
The anime adaptation of Our Last Crusade or the Rise of a New World is getting a third season, with the main cast and creative team from Season 2 returning. The announcement was made during the Fantasia Bunko Grand Thanksgiving Festival 2026 Online event, alongside a new teaser visual for the production. 1
The returning cast includes Yusuke Kobayashi as Iska, Sora Amamiya as Aliceliese Lou Nebulis IX, Nao Shiraki as Mismis Klass, Kaori Ishihara as Nene Alkastone, Shunichi Toki as Jhin Syulargun, Yumiri Hanamori as Rin Vispose and Azumi Waki as Sisbell Lou Nebulis IX. 1
Yuki Inaba will return as director and series script supervisor, while Kaori Yoshikawa is again handling character designs. Studio Palette and SILVER LINK. are attached to the new season, continuing the creative connection with the second season. 1
The teaser visual shows Aliceliese, Iska and Sisbell, with Japanese text framing the image. The visual is credited to Yoshikawa and was published by Anime News Network with an attribution to Kadokawa. It gives the announcement a proper first look, but the news so far does not include a release date or a confirmed episode count. 1
The series follows a conflict between the scientifically advanced Empire and the magical kingdom of Nebulis. Iska, an elite Imperial swordsman, and Aliceliese, the rival kingdom's princess, are drawn together despite fighting on opposite sides of a long-running war. The third season will continue that central tension rather than resetting the story around a new cast.
The announcement arrives after a turbulent run for the anime. The first season premiered in 2020, while Season 2 began airing in 2024 before its remaining episodes were delayed to maintain production quality and later restarted in 2025. That history makes the lack of a release window for Season 3 worth noting: the project is confirmed to be in production, but viewers should not read the announcement as a promise of an imminent broadcast. 1
Our opinion
A third season makes sense if the production can build on the series' strongest asset: the uneasy chemistry between Iska and Aliceliese. The returning staff and cast are encouraging, while the absence of a release date is the responsible detail to lead with after Season 2's delays. For now, this is a solid confirmation of continued production rather than a full launch reveal, and the teaser visual is the clearest new piece of information available to fans. 1
