Katamari Damacy figures bring the Prince and King to A-SYMBOL
Prime 1 Studio’s A-SYMBOL line turns the Prince and King from Katamari Damacy into colourful, magnet-friendly display figures.
Katamari Damacy (塊魂) is getting a pair of wonderfully odd new display pieces, with Prime 1 Studio opening reservations for A-SYMBOL figures of the Prince and the King. The range is based on the colourful action game series about rolling a katamari around the world and sticking almost everything to it. 1
What is being released
The A-SYMBOL line begins with bonus editions of the Prince and the King. The Prince stands 15cm tall with his katamari, while the character itself is modelled at the 5cm scale used in the games. The ball includes magnets, letting owners attach the included eraser, soy-sauce dispenser and film items, as well as other metal objects from around the house. 12
The Prince bonus edition includes normal, whistling and happy head parts, plus a stand for displaying him without the katamari. Prime 1 Studio’s official product page presents the figure with its colourful pile of everyday objects and identifies the item as SKU ASYMKD-02S. 2
The King is the larger centrepiece at 50cm tall. His face can be changed between normal, smiling and open-eyed expressions, while the neck is articulated and the cape uses fabric. The set also includes an extra Prince head wearing the cool mask presented to him by the King in the game. 13
Reservations opened on 22 October, with both figures currently listed for November 2027 release. The Prince bonus edition costs ¥10,120 including tax and is sold through Prime 1 Studio’s official online store in Japan. The King bonus edition costs ¥32,340 including tax and is also available through Asobistore. 123
Our opinion
This is exactly the sort of merchandise that makes Katamari Damacy work outside the game: the figures are colourful, strange and built around the series’ playful relationship with ordinary objects. The Prince’s magnetic katamari is the cleverer idea of the two because it lets the display change rather than locking the character into one static pose. The King’s 50cm height gives the range a proper statement piece, but it also makes the price, shelf space and eventual November 2027 wait much harder to ignore. For fans who want a conversation starter rather than a generic character statue, A-SYMBOL has understood the assignment.
Prime 1 Studio’s product pages list the figures as reservations rather than currently available stock, so the dates and prices should be treated as the manufacturer’s present plans. 23
