Kaze wo Tsugu Mono will screen in Japan for two weeks before its January 2027 television debut, with new promotional artwork and merchandise now revealed.

A theatrical preview before the TV broadcast
The film version, Kaze wo Tsugu Mono: Hajimari (風を継ぐもの -はじまり-), will screen in Japan for two weeks from 13 November 2026. The television series is then scheduled to begin in January 2027 in the CBC/TBS network's Agaru Anime slot, airing on Sundays at 11:30 p.m. 1
The new visual features the series' central character alongside the show's title. Merchandise using the artwork has also been listed on the anime's official website. 12
The project is an original period-drama anime from Aniplex, Live2D and Drive, with Snow Man member Daisuke Sakuma leading the cast in his first television-anime starring role. 23
Our opinion
A theatrical preview gives Kaze wo Tsugu Mono a useful early showcase before its television run begins. The new artwork's focused character portrait and period-drama presentation make the project easier to identify, while the merchandise announcement confirms that the preview is being treated as a proper launch event rather than a quiet advance screening.
The bigger test will come when the full series arrives in January. For now, the two-week cinema window is the clearest near-term date for viewers who want to see this original anime first.
