Madoka Magica film adds a 35mm frame bonus for week six

The Madoka Magica film is still handing cinemagoers reasons to come back. Aniplex said on 29 September that Puella Magi Madoka Magica the Movie: Walpurgisnacht Rising will give audiences a 35mm film frame as its sixth weekly visitor bonus, distributed from 3 to 9 October 2026.

The film has run a rolling gift programme since opening on 28 August 2026, with a different item for each week of its theatrical run. The sixth reward is a physical strip of 35mm film, and the film's theatre page lists it alongside the earlier weekly items.

Madoka's birthday lands in the same week

The hand-out opens on Madoka Kaname's birthday. Aniplex said separately that a third wave of theatre-original goods goes on sale at cinemas nationwide from 3 October, built around a newly drawn illustration of the character.

That wave also adds items featuring Devil Homura and characters new to Walpurgisnacht Rising, taking the range beyond the core cast. Neither notice lists prices or item counts, and the film's own goods page carries the catalogue.

Why week six is the interesting one

Weekly bonuses exist to turn an opening audience into repeat custom, and a sixth week is late enough in a theatrical run that most films have lost the bulk of their screens. Handing out 35mm film at that stage is a collectible aimed squarely at the people already planning a second or third trip to the cinema.

Our opinion

Scheduling the sixth-week bonus so it lands on 3 October is efficient rather than sentimental: one date, two reasons to buy a ticket, and a birthday the fanbase already marks every year. The 35mm frame is doing the heavier lifting. A strip of film cannot be reprinted once the stock runs out, which makes it a far stronger nudge than another acrylic stand, and it tells you the distributor expects this film to still be worth a trip more than a month after release.
