Magical Sisters Lulutto Lilly and Sabagebu! team up for crab battle

Magical Sisters Lulutto Lilly and Sabagebu! reunite for a crab-themed crossover video, complete with a hot-pot illustration.

Magical Sisters Lulutto Lilly and Sabagebu! characters prepare a dish together in a crossover video

Magical Sisters Lulutto Lilly and Sabagebu! -Survival Game Club- have joined forces for a special crossover video built around an unlikely shared enemy: a giant crab. The collaboration brings the newer anime's magical idols together with characters from the long-running survival-game comedy for a short, deliberately playful meeting of two very different worlds. 1

The video combines scenes from the latest episode of Magical Sisters Lulutto Lilly, in which the magical idols face a giant crab, with episode 11 of Sabagebu!, titled “Red Shooting Star”. That earlier episode follows the club mascot Platy as she rescues a crab, giving the crossover its comic premise rather than treating the two series as a conventional shared story. 1

The campaign also includes a new illustration of Platy, Azuki and Uguisu enjoying hot pot together after the battle. The promotional image used for this story shows the two Magical Sisters Lulutto Lilly characters preparing food in a kitchen, a much cosier outcome than the oversized crustacean showdown that sets up the collaboration. 1

Magical Sisters Lulutto Lilly is currently airing its second cour in Japan and streaming on It’s Anime Powered by REMOW. The series is directed by Shintaro Doge, who also handled the original character designs, with Yuko Kakihara on series composition and screenplay. Studio Pierrot is producing the animation. 1

Sabagebu! -Survival Game Club- is based on Hidekichi Matsumoto’s manga, which ran in Kodansha’s Nakayoshi magazine. The anime follows Momoka Sonokawa after she joins a high-school survival-game club, the kind of premise that makes a crab-rescue crossover feel much more on-brand than it might sound at first glance. Crunchyroll currently streams the series. 1

The crossover is a small promotional meeting, not an announcement of a new joint series. That distinction matters: its appeal is the contrast between Magical Sisters Lulutto Lilly’s current magical-idol momentum and Sabagebu!’s established comic identity. The shared crab gag gives both sides a recognisable bit of business without asking viewers to learn a new continuity. The collaboration follows a report from Comic Natalie cited by AnimeTV. 2

Our opinion

This works because it understands the value of a compact crossover. A giant crab is a simple enough hook to explain in a single image, while the hot-pot follow-up gives the promotion a second, warmer beat. It is the sort of short-form anime marketing that can reward existing fans without pretending the meeting is bigger than it is — and that restraint makes the joke land more cleanly.
